Duran Duran's official Web site has the deluxe reissues of Notorious and Big Thing listed for September 27 in the U.K. - for now. May they not sound like crap.
Here We Go Again
Mike Duquette
Michael Duquette (Founder) was fascinated with catalog music ever since he discovered there was more than one version of John Williams' soundtrack to E.T. The Extra-Terrestrial. A 2009 graduate of Seton Hall University with a B.A. in journalism, Mike paired his profession with his passion through The Second Disc, one of the first sites to focus on all reissue labels great and small. His passion for reissues turned into a career, with bylines on catalog at Discogs, City Pages and Ultimate Prince and credits on titles including the Grammy-winning 'Squeeze Box: The Complete Works of "Weird Al" Yankovic.' Born and raised in New Jersey, Mike lives in Astoria, Queens with an ever-expanding collection of music.

I'm resigned to the idea that the sound on the CD's won't be good, but I'll buy them for the DVD's.

I just listened to the 2CD Rio remaster again today and it isn't half bad. It's too bad the subsequent Duran Duran and Seven and the Ragged Tiger sets took such a dip in sound quality.
Does anyone know if the Notorious and Big Thing discs were remastered by Steve Rooke or the other guy? Does it even matter? Will these even see release before EMI implodes?
Phil Cohen says
Terra Firma's recent infusion of money into EMI ensures EMI's survival at least until March 2011.
Yes, it DOES matter which engineer remasters the Duran Duran CD's. Bring back Steve Rooke!

I wist I could say i was looking forward to these but the last DD Reissues sounded pretty awful. BTW The orig vinyl on Notorious sounds a LOT better than the orig Capitol CD. I'm afraid the next CD will be a step down even from that! The recent a-ha CD's sound great which tells me it is possible for things from the 80's to come out well .
Here is to hope....
