Our reliable release date gatekeeper Pause & Play put up a pre-order link to a new Jimi Hendrix set. West Coast Seattle Boy: The Jimi Hendrix Anthology, slated for release October 19 from Experience Hendrix/Legacy, is said to be a five-disc set (four CDs and a DVD), likely with some rare and unreleased content. No other information has surfaced, although that same date has an Amazon listing for reissues of The Jimi Hendrix Experience's live set from Woodstock (first released in 1999 when MCA was distributing the Experience Hendrix catalogue) as well as CD/DVD editions of MCA's 1994 compilation Blues and the BBC Sessions album released in 1998 - which now looks to encompass two CDs and a DVD. (That era also saw the most recent box set of Hendrix material, 2000's The Jimi Hendrix Experience.)
New Hendrix Box, More Reissues Slated for October?

A 2009 graduate of Seton Hall University with a B.A. in journalism, Mike paired his profession with his passion through The Second Disc, one of the first sites to focus on all reissue labels great and small. His passion for reissues turned into a career, holding positions at Legacy Recordings and Rhino Records and contributing to Allmusic, Discogs, City Pages, Ultimate Classic Rock and Mondo Records, for whom he penned liner notes for his favorite piece of music: John Williams' Oscar-winning score to 'E.T. The Extra-Terrestrial.' Born and raised in New Jersey, Mike lives in Astoria, Queens with his wife, a cat named Ravioli, twin daughters and a large yet tasteful collection of music.

If I'm recalling correctly from earlier statements from Experience Hendrix, this whole box is supposed to be made up of rare and unreleased material.

The box set in the above picture is amazing, if this new box set is just half as good, it will still be awesome. This is great news indeed.

Count me in. I have the original box set (pictured) so I hope it isn't just a re-issue of that set with an extra dvd added to penalize those that bought the original.
I can never get over the fact that the man released 3 albums while he was alive and I have 30+ cds from him. If only he'd have lived to grow old.
