The fine folks at Big Break Records have got another large batch of new titles for release in the U.K. on July 25, and we figured now was a good time to share not only the track lists and details with you, but look ahead at some of the huge titles they're prepping for next month.
There are a few really great, underrated titles from some big-name acts in next week's batch, including expansions of The Isley Brothers' Between the Sheets (1983) and I Can See Clearly Now (1972) by Johnny Nash. But there are some deeper titles for cratediggers, all augmented with bonus tracks. Particularly, two discs from the Total Experience Records catalogue (Prime Time's Flying High (1984) and The Gap Band's Gap Band 8 (1986)) and some other dance/soul classics from around the Sony Music catalogue (The Nite-Liters, Keith Barrow, The Joneses).
But August is just as exciting a month for the label, featuring some Prince-ly project and the what may be Big Break's most ambitious release yet. Read all about it after the jump!
August 15 will see just one Big Break title released, but it's a pretty elaborate one. The label's releasing The Pointer Sisters' Break Out - which spawned major hits in "Jump," "Automatic" and "Neutron Dance" - as a deluxe, two-disc set. This package, contained in a digipak instead of the usual super jewel cases that hold BBR reissues, will feature both pressings of the album - both the original 1983 pressing and the 1984 reissue that remixed several tracks and added "I'm So Excited" from the sisters' previous album in 1982 (which, off the strength of that inclusion, became a Top 10 hit) - as well as just about every non-LP remix that was pressed on wax on each side of the Atlantic.
Then, on August 29, another batch of five BBR titles will be unleashed. Prince fanatics will want to pay certain attention to this one: the batch includes the first-ever CD release of Andre Cymone's A.C., which included "The Dance Electric," which Prince wrote and produced for his former bandmate and childhood friend, as well as Change's Change of Heart, one of the first productions by Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis after being sacked from The Time by His Royal Badness. (That album will include an unreleased track, too - an alternate remix of the title track.)
The full scoop on every album is below; pre-order links are only live for the July releases, but when all the discs are ready to order, they'll be added.

Eric Luecking says
That Nite-Liters album is really good. It's Harvey Fuqua affiliated group. They're a subset of The New Birth.
The Pointer Sisters album brings back memories. Automatic, Jump For My Love, Neutron Dance, and of course I'm So Excited were always on blast at home growing up.
Tom says
I'm looking forward to Break Out. It should be a big seller for BBR. I know it's been highly anticipated for some time.
Kym says
I think it's great that BBR continues to reissue great stuff, but their maximized remastering style leaves a lot to be desired.
Don says
That Breakout set is epic. I had no idea there were THAT many remixes, alternate versions, etc. from that album.
Jroug says
This is NOT the first release of the Andre Cymone CD. In fact all of the Andre albums were briefly on CD in the longbox days when Dance Electric became a hit. Glad to see it coming back, but think it may have been wiser to do a box of all the albums and sell to the hardcore Prince fans who have been after these for years.
