Bill Janowski says
Wouldn't mind winning some of these, as I'm guessing (yet again) that the prices will be ridiculously high.
Bill Janowski says
The Jimi Hendrix, Linda Ronstadt & Zombies LP's are listed as 'RSD First,' so I can wait.
Brian from Canada says
Some of these I'd really love to get but — alas! — the local record shop doesn't carry them all, and has a reputation for keeping some for the employees/eBay.
zubb says
another problem is the record labels slashing orders. I don't get it. Why have limited qty's? Why not press to order? If they are one way sales, what does the label care? If they get orders for 20,000 of a title, press and ship 20,000.
Mark B. Hanson says
And no CDs for another RSD. Sigh. No use going out, I guess.
mark schlesinger says
more pseudo-collectable overpriced obsolete vinyl, mostly with no unreleased content. Not my thing, might be yours.
Shaun says
The refusal of the labels to do any CDs for RSD is such crap. I agree with others who saymthere's no reason to go put for any of this.
Also, no Grateful Dead/GD-related release from Rhino? Disappointing, since they would've likely released such an offering on CD later.
Zubb says
I agree Shaun. I do like the fact that RSD gets customers into the brick and mortar record stores twice a year. Most stores see huge increases on those days. That said, I think the record labels should have record store exclusives year round to support these retailers and keep traffic coming in the stores. That is where CD's could come in. Why not have record store, CD only releases in between RSD's? No digital versions either! Feature special packaging and bonus tracks not previously available. I am not talking expensive boxed sets only, but single CD releases as well, which are what I prefer anyway. They really should consider it.
Bill Janowski says
Unfortunately, they probably won't. Why do something that actually makes sense to a lot of fans/collectors??
Bill Janowski says
Zubb, I agree - you have a lot of good points there. But what I said above...Somebody has to get them to listen.
chance says
Hendrix and Ronstadt's Silk Purse definitely! Hope I can locate them.
Michael says
Instead of moaning about the lack of CDs, get a turntable! It's the law of supply and demand and right now vinyl is in demand. Plus, there's a huge amount of music out there that was issued on CD. Seems a pity to rule out a bunch of music just because you don't support the format it appears on. I'm omnivorous when it comes to music, which means I'm omnivorous when it comes to format.
