A little over a month since the last release, a new installment in Bruce Springsteen's live archive series has been released: Ippodromo Delle Capannelle, Rome, Italy, 2013.
This concert from July 13, 2013 comes at the tail end of the Wrecking Ball Tour which had begun over a year earlier in March of 2012. A concert from right before this tour began, from March 9, 2012 at the Apollo Theater in New York, has been previously released by the Springsteen archive. Also previously released are numerous concerts from the High Hopes Tour which kicked off in January of 2014, only a few months after the Wrecking Ball tour had ended in September. The High Hopes Tour is considered to be a continuation of the Wrecking Ball tour.
This tour was brought together to promote Springsteen's 17th studio album, Wrecking Ball, released on March 6, 2012. It would hit No. 1 on the Billboard charts. The tour was the first of the E Street Band tours not to feature Clarence Clemons, who had passed away in 2011. Clemons' nephew Jake and a full horn section were brought to fill the Big Man's shoes. With the addition of several other members, it was the largest line-up of the E Street Band in the group's history. For a tour that lasted over a year and a half, Springsteen performed a couple of hundred different songs over the duration. Many songs were live debuts or had not been heard in a very long time. On this particular July night, four songs dating all the way back to The Wild, The Innocent & The E Street Shuffle ("Kitty's Back", "Incident on 57th Street," "Rosalita (Come Out Tonight), and "New York Serenade") were performed together for only the second time since 1975. Also included, of course, were several songs from the Wrecking Ball album.
The show was recorded live by John Cooper. It was mixed to DSD from 24 bit/48 kHz multitracks by Toby Scott in October of this year at Stone Hill Studio. It has been mastered by Adam Ayan at Gateway Mastering. The concert will be offered in Direct Stream Digital or DSD ($49.95) - a format with 64 times the sampling rate of CD - as well as the usual options of MP3 ($9.95, 256 kbps), FLAC or Apple Lossless ($12.95), HD-Audio ($24.95, 24 bit/192 kHz, FLAC-HD or ALAC-HD) and CD-R ($23.00). CDs will not begin shipping until November 30, but those purchasing the CD sets have the usual option to pay an extra $5.00 to obtain the MP3s now.
All eight volumes of The Bruce Springsteen Archive Series - plus the recent concerts from 2014 - are available at Springsteen's official live store for download and physical purchase. You can also sample tracks at this link which you'll find just below! Please note that there had been some concerns about the audio quality of this release in the comments section of nugs.net, and the team has heard them! It's now noted on the purchase page that "We are remixing this show and will repost when remixing and remastering is complete. All fans who bought the original mix will be able to download the new mix for free." You can sample tracks at the link below.

Well, I'll definitely wait for the remixed/remastered version...
Wasn't sure I'd want a more recent show (apart from the wonderful Seeger Sessions album, band, and tour I haven't cared for much of Bruce's stuff after the 80s) but this is a great setlist. Heavy on the classic stuff, but some great obscurities and great cover tunes thrown in, along with some of the better more recent songs. I will check this out!
Then lets get back to more vintage stuff, please. Official release of Roxy Night 1978, anyone?
