On the heels of last year's deluxe box set of Fleetwood Mac's Tusk, Warner Bros. Records has just announced the legendary band's Mirage will be next to get the lavish treatment. On July 29, the label will unveil the 1982 chart-topping smash in a variety of physical formats:
- Deluxe Edition (3 CD/1 DVD/1 LP): Original album remastered, plus B-sides and rarities; the original album on vinyl; a disc of live performances; and a 5.1 mix on DVD
- Expanded Edition (2 CD): Original album remastered, plus a disc of B-sides and rarities
- Remastered Edition (1 CD): Original album, remastered
Digital downloads will also be available.
Mirage was the band's third U.S. No. 1 album following Fleetwood Mac and Rumours, and spun off classic hits including "Gypsy" (No. 12 U.S.) and "Hold Me" (No. 4 U.S.) as well as "Oh Diane" (No. 9 U.K.) and "Straight Back" (No. 36 U.S. Rock). The original album has been newly-remastered for all formats.
The new deluxe and expanded editions of the album both boast a second disc featuring 19 outtakes and rarities (all but two of which are never-before-released). Among the previously unreleased recordings are early versions of album tracks such as "Empire State" and "Book Of Love," plus outtakes of songs that didn't make the final album sequence, like "If You Were My Love" and "Smile At You." The disc also includes a previously unreleased cover of the Fats Domino classic "Blue Monday," as well as the rare, extended mix for "Gypsy" that was used in the music video.
The third disc (exclusive to the Deluxe box set edition) has 13 live performances recorded in Los Angeles during the band's 1982 U.S. tour supporting Mirage. "You Make Loving Fun," "Rhiannon," "Tusk" and "The Chain" all appear alongside Mirage favorites "Love In Store," "Eyes Of The World" and "Gypsy." The Deluxe-exclusive DVD features producer Ken Caillat's new 5.1 surround mix; the original stereo mix is also on the disc in 96/24 resolution.
All versions of Mirage will be released on July 29. You can pre-order at the links below!

William Keats says
Glad they didn't bury "Cool Water"; that's a favorite B side of mine.
Shaun says
Me too! I'm not a big fan of Mirage, apart from the two U.S. hits, but "Cool Water" is great. First time on CD? Definitely would like to snag that. The second disc looks interesting, so I think it'll be worth it.Who knows, maybe I'll like Mirage itself better after not hearing it in ages!
Bill says
A hundred bucks to get the 5.1. Insanity.
Philip Cohen says
if you're in the U.S.A., check http://www.bullmoose.com for a substantially lower price
Reed Pitkunigis says
I live in the States and pre-ordered through Amazon UK. They eliminate the VAT and my cost was 35 pounds for the deluxe set. A steal.
Orion Canada says
Holy crap, it's nearly $50 USD cheaper buying from the UK versus US.
Thanks a ton for tip, guy!
Bill says
Same here. Thanks!

Does Anyone Know Who Remastered This New Reissue Of Fleetwood Mac's "Mirage"? Hopefully The CD's Are Free Of Compression/Brick-Walling/NR & That The Music's Dynamics Are Intact...
Joe Marchese says
The reissue of "Tusk" last year was splendidly remastered by Dan Hersch, with Bill Inglot as one of the set's producers. I am certain that "Mirage" will be in the same good hands!
Ray says
I See, Hopefully That's The Case With This New FM "Mirage" Reissue...Hopefully It Sells Enough Units For Rhino To Warrant A Release Of A Deluxe Remaster Of "Tango In The Night" Which Would Finally Complete My Collection Of Buckingham/Nicks Era Fleetwood Mac Remasters...
David Olstein says
It's a shame we aren't getting any video content. If they had included a Blu-Ray disc instead of a DVD, ther would have been room for hi res stereo and surround mixes if the album, plus the Gypsy and Hold Me videos and the 1982 concert film that I don't believe has ever been available on DVD. Sure, Buckingham looks coked out of his mind in the video, but it's the only document we have of that all too brief tour.
Paul English says
It really wouldn't have killed them to include the 7" of Gypsy. Unavailable on CD still.
Orion Canada says
I am rather annoyed at this too. The 7" version of "Gypsy" has a markedly different ending than the album version.
Orion Canada says
Anyone have any idea on who wrote "Put a Candle in the Window?"
