Three decades after it was first released--and following similarly expansive editions for three of the group's earlier albums from this period--Warner Bros. Records and Rhino will expand and reissue Fleetwood Mac's 14th studio album, Tango in the Night.
The last studio album from the band's modern classic line-up of Lindsey Buckingham (vocals/guitar), Stevie Nicks (vocals), Christine McVie (vocals/keyboards), John McVie (bass) and Mick Fleetwood (drums), Tango in the Night marked the group's biggest commercial success since Rumours a decade earlier.
In 2014, when this line-up welcomed Miss McVie back into the fold, we made Tango the subject of a Reissue Theory post that told its story as a planned Buckingham solo album that evolved into a full Mac record (with stunning contributions in particular from McVie). Absent any live material (Buckingham departed the group before the tour), there seemed a fine amount of B-sides, outtakes and even dance mixes to mine for a deluxe Tango, and that seems to be exactly what's happened here.
The 2CD edition of Tango will include 13 bonus tracks, only five of which have seen official release, either as single B-sides or, in the case of the alternate mix of "Isn't It Midnight," on the 1992 box set 25 Years: The Chain. (The bonus disc's closing track, for the first time, joins together original album closer "You and I, Part II" with its preceding section, as found on the "Big Love" single.) Unreleased gems include the demo "Special Kind of Love," an early version of "Juliet" (which originated as the instrumental track "Book of Miracles" and ended up on Nicks' album The Other Side of the Mirror in 1989), and other alternate versions.
The deluxe edition adds one more CD featuring all 14 of the dance and dub mixes commissioned for the record, overseen by such luminaries as Arthur Baker and John "Jellybean" Benitez. It also includes a DVD featuring a new 96 kHz/24-bit stereo transfer of the album and all five of the original music videos for the album, plus a 180-gram vinyl pressing of the original LP.
You'll get the chance to be mystified anew by Tango in the Night when it hits stores March 10. Check the full specs and order links below!

Why do they persist in forcing you to buy an LP to get a third CD of club remixes? I want that CD but I don't need an LP. I don't collect vinyl. Why not a 3 CD set? I'd love that.
Rob Maurer says
That's my biggest issue with sets like this, or reissues from the label Preservation Records which only releases CDs as a BONUS with their vinyl! Thank you, no.
Rob Maurer says
Actually, I meant Sunset Dreams Records, not Preservation.
Andrea says
To each his own... personally I don't mind the LP. These FM's LPs are well pressed and I always find that well made LPs give a little extra something on my system.
What I have no use for, is the DVD (but I know it's valued by many).
Anyway, after Rumours - Tusk - Mirage - Tango, I might be interested in a deluxe box of the 1975 album, and then I'm done with Fleetwood. I have zero interest for anything they did before or after...
Brian from Canada says
I'd really like to see the 1975 album added to this series.
Interesting to see that this is the ONLY one of the releases so far not to have a live album attached.
Sam says
Probably because Lindsey wasn't on that tour?

This news maked my day yesterday!
Didn’t expect we were getting ALL the mixes, even the excellent promo only remix/edit of 'Big Love', and the dubs. Wow! So glad.
As far as the omission of part 1 of 'You & I', I count on the full version to contain part 1. Can’t immagine that this important B-side is neglected here. Very curious though to hear the transition from part 1 into part 2 in this full version.
Really happy with this release. Don't care that I am forced to buy the deluxe box set with the vinyl, because the present of CD 3 I wished for so long is finally available in master quality. Kudos for the WB reissue production team.
Stefano says
Sorry, I see a typo: this news made my day yesterday 🙂

Now we need a reissue campaign for the 1969-1974 run.
Rob says
I'll get this even though I do not need the vinyl. I would hope they will do a deluxe reissue of "Mystery To Me" and then I'll be satisfied with their catalogue. Always loved that album and it is sorely overlooked.
