Blink-182 Go Back to "California" This Summer

We've all dealt with bands reissuing an album with a track or two a year or so later; that feeling of re-purchasing is a familiar pain indeed. But Blink-182 are easing the blow a little bit on a reissue of their latest album, California, offering fans essentially another whole album!

The power-pop-punk trio turned heads with their seventh studio album last year, the first recorded without founding member and singer/guitarist Tom DeLonge after a relatively bizarre public breakup in 2015 (a decade after the group's "indefinite hiatus" from 2005 to 2009). Co-founding singer/bassist Mark Hoppus and drummer Travis Barker soldiered on with singer/guitarist Matt Skiba of Alkaline Trio for live dates and clicked enough to record an album that recalled their classic sound while pushing themselves into newer directions. Propelled by the single "Bored to Death," a No. 1 hit on Billboard's Alternative Rock chart, fans welcomed the new Blink with open arms, giving the group their second domestic No. 1 album (and first in England) as well as their first ever Grammy nomination for Best Rock Album.

Now, ahead of the group's summer tour plans, California will be expanded with a 12-track bonus disc, including the new single "Parking Lot" (which you can hear below), a Japanese bonus track ("Hey I'm Sorry") and an acoustic rendition of "Bored to Death." The reissue is out May 19, and the track list and Amazon order links are below. (Color variants are available through the band's official store.)

Mike Duquette

Mike Duquette (Founder) was fascinated with catalog music ever since he was a teenager. A 2009 graduate of Seton Hall University with a B.A. in journalism, Mike paired his profession with his passion through The Second Disc, one of the first sites to focus on all reissue labels great and small. His passion for reissues turned into a career, holding positions at Legacy Recordings and Rhino Records and contributing to Allmusic, Discogs, City Pages, Ultimate Classic Rock and Mondo Records, for whom he penned liner notes for his favorite piece of music: John Williams' Oscar-winning score to 'E.T. The Extra-Terrestrial.' Born and raised in New Jersey, Mike lives in Astoria, Queens with his wife, a cat named Ravioli, twin daughters and a large yet tasteful collection of music.
