Real Gone Music just released its full slate of Christmas music, including our very special trio of The Supremes, The Ames Brothers, and Connie Smith.  But the label still has more releases coming for the holiday season, which you can get for yourself or a lucky someone else!  We've told you about most of them before, including the 40th anniversary edition of Debby Boone's You Light Up My Life and the deluxe reissue of Jimmy Webb's Angel Heart, but let's take a look at some more of the label's limited edition vinyl!

First, for November 24's Black Friday Record Store Day event, Real Gone is offering the 2-LP Rarities Vol. 1 from Blue Oyster Cult.  The 1970s hard rockers have had a long association with Columbia Records beginning with their self-titled debut album in 1972.  They've had great success over the years including the hit "Don't Fear the Reaper" from 1976.  As such, Columbia has released numerous compilations and reissues over the years.  In 2001, Legacy reissued BOC's first four studio albums with bonus tracks, and then, in 2012, The Complete Columbia Albums box set was released, containing all of the band's albums (including the expanded versions) for the label, and a disc of rarities.  In July 2016, for those who didn't purchase the box, a digital double album, Rarities:1969-1988 , was released containing the bonus tracks from the 2001 series a well as the bonus disc from the box set.

Real Gone is taking the first "disc" of the digital release and putting it onto a 2-LP set as Rarities Vol. 1.  The 17-track album is packaged in a double gatefold jacket, featuring photos from the Sony archives.  It also has notes from Scott Schinder, including exclusive quotes from BOC founding members Buck Dharma and Eric Bloom.  The 2-LP set comes in "Pearl White" vinyl and is limited to 1,000 copies.

Next on Black Friday RSD is a 12-inch 45 RPM record from Utopia, A Different P.O.V.  The prog rock band was founded in 1973 by Todd Rundgren.  After his stint in The Nazz, Rundgren had moved to production and solo work, and Utopia formed out of his backup band for his 1973 album A Wizard - A True Star.  The line-up changed a bit over the next couple of years, but by 1976, it had settled on Rundgren, Kasim Sulton, Roger Powell, and Willie Wilcox.  This iteration of the band would release eight albums beginning in 1977 with Ra and culminating with 1985's P.O.V.  Throughout Utopia's existence, Rundgren juggled the band, his own solo career, and his increasingly in-demand production duties including, famously, Meat Loaf's Bat Out of Hell.  Utopia had always been a collaborative effort, and differences over the musical direction of the group led to its breakup in 1986, though they have reformed a couple of times since.

Real Gone's new 12-inch vinyl features three previously unreleased demos of the songs that would wind up on P.O.V.: "Secret Society," "Mated," and "Play This Game."  The vinyl is housed in a jacket featuring liner notes by Todd Rundgren historian Paul Myers, featuring quotes from Rundgren, Sulton, and Wilcox.  It's limited to 1,500 copies and is pressed on "Sky Blue" vinyl.

On December 8, Real Gone is also issuing two limited edition vinyl LPs to stores everywhere.  The first is the soundtrack to the film Mommie Dearest, featuring a score by the legendary Henry Mancini.  The controversial 1981 film was based upon the book by Christina Crawford, recounting the abuse that her mother Joan Crawford allegedly inflicted upon her.  Faye Dunaway starred as Crawford, and her over-the-top performance turned the film into a cult classic despite the lukewarm critical reception it received at the time.  The prolific Mancini tailored his score to reflect the time period reflected in the film, harkening back to the sound of classic film scores by Alex North, Bernard Herrmann, and Elmer Bernstein.

As with too many of Mancini's scores over the years, the music to the film was not originally released on an LP upon its release in 1981.  La-La Land premiered it on CD in 2012 in expanded form, with fourteen cues and nine bonus tracks.  Real Gone's release marks the first time Mommie Dearest has appeared on vinyl, presenting the fourteen original cues on "Spotless White" vinyl.  The gatefold LP jacket features production stills and is limited to 1,200 copies.

Finally, Real Gone's other release on September 8 is the vinyl premiere of Sleepless in Seattle.  Nora Ephron's 1993 romantic comedy starred Tom Hanks and Meg Ryan as Sam and Annie.  When Annie hears Sam tell the story of his late wife on the radio on Christmas Eve, she falls for him (despite having never met him, and living on the opposite coast of the United States).  The movie chronicles the charming tale of how the two come together.  The movie was a box office hit with the winning pair of Hanks and Ryan, and became one of the most beloved romantic comedies of the decade.  The score was composed by Marc Shaiman, and the soundtrack album featured classic standards from artists such as Louis Armstrong, Nat "King" Cole, Gene Autry, and Jimmy Durante.  Also on the album were standards performed by contemporary artists like Carly Simon, Dr. John, Joe Cocker, Harry Connick, Jr. and the pair of Celine Dion and Clive Griffin.  Dion and Griffin's version of "When I Fall in Love" would hit No. 6 on the Billboard AC chart.  Real Gone's LP debut is limited to 1,000 copies and pressed on blue vinyl.
