Ahead of their upcoming tour--including their first trek to America!--Bananarama will reissue their Greatest Hits Collection (1988) with a bonus disc of original material.
Sara Dallin, Siobhan Fahey and Keren Woodward were once named the female vocal group with the most chart entries ever by the Guinness Book of World Records, and it's not too outlandish a claim. If you've been near a radio on both sides of the Atlantic since the '80s, you've probably heard at least one of their hits: soul-pop covers like "Really Saying Something" with Fun Boy Three, "Na Na Hey Hey (Kiss Him Goodbye)," and "Venus" (the group's biggest American hit, which topped the Billboard Hot 100), plus originals powered by hit U.K. producers like Jolley & Swain ("Cruel Summer," "Robert De Niro's Waiting...") and Stock Aitken Waterman ("I Heard a Rumour"). Their distinct vocal style, relying less on harmonies and more on catchy melodies sung in unison, make them a delight to sing along with to this day.
Fahey departed the group before the release of The Greatest Hits Collection; two tracks featured new vocalist Jacquie O'Sullivan, who stayed through 1991, after which Dallin and Woodward continued as a duo, scoring a U.K. Top 20 in 2005 with "Move in My Direction." Now, with all three members reunited and a mostly sold-out U.K. tour planned for November and December (plus U.S. dates in February), the band's original label London Music is expanding Greatest Hits Collection, a Top 5 U.K. album and a gold-certified release by the RIAA.
Many, many iterations of this album exist, but this two-disc set is based on the main 16 tracks from the original CD release plus an additional five singles, along with 11 of "The Greatest Remixes" from original singles (as collected on reissues and box sets by Edsel). The packaging includes the original cover plus an expanded booklet with new photos, a handwritten note from the band and track-by-track commentary. And for those of you who wonder:
tracks 1, 2, 3, 4, 6, 9 & 11 were available on the 2013 albums reissue (2 CD + 1 DVD),
tracks 5, 7, 8 & 10 were available on Megarama in 2015.
Also, all the 11 tracks were on the singles box set.
I find it strange that "Help" (and everything from the albums without Siobhan) is completely left out...

not strange at all, this reissue is focus on the original trio reunion.
& Siobhan only appeared in the 1st 4 albums.

I know, but "Love, Truth and Honesty", and the *single* versions of "I Want You Back" and "Nathan Jones" don't have Siobhan on them as well, do they?
I think it would have made more sense to make a brand new collection, instead of an modified "Greatest Hits Collection", don't you think so ?
I have to agree, Christophe. "Love, Truth and Honesty" is probably my favortite Bananarama track! As well, "I Want You Back" and the AMAZING "Nathan Jones" - (genuis that they covered that!) - are brilliant as well!
