The Trick Is To Keep Breathing: Garbage To Expand 'Version 2.0'

Garbage has announced a reissue of their sophomore album, 1998's Version 2.0.  This follows the 2015 reissue of the band's debut and is, like that release, multi-tiered with releases on CD and vinyl.  It's due on June 22.

Originally released on Herb Alpert's Almo Sounds in North America and on Mushroom Records elsewhere, Version 2.0 made it to No. 13 on the U.S. Billboard 200 and has since gone on to earn platinum status.  The darkly-tinged album from Shirley Manson, Duke Erikson, Steve Marker, and Butch Vig earned two Grammy nominations, and its third single, "Special," garnered another pair of Grammy nods.  Lead single "Push" (featuring a musical quote from The Beach Boys' "Don't Worry Baby") placed at No. 5 on both the Billboard Hot Modern Rock Tracks and Hot Dance Music/Club Play charts.  Second single "I Think I'm Paranoid" was another top ten entry on the Modern Rock Tracks survey, and also went top 10 on the U.K. Singles Chart.  Following the moderate hit "Special," which charted well in both the U.S. and U.K., among other territories, three more singles were issued internationally: "When I Grow Up," "The Trick is to Keep Breathing," and "You Look So Fine."

The alt-rock classic is returning from Stunvolume/PIAS in a variety of formats including a 2-CD deluxe edition (with a second disc of 10 B-sides) and a 2-LP orange vinyl edition of the album only.  A vinyl box set takes in three black vinyl LPs comprising the contents of the CD deluxe edition plus swag like a poster, stickers, and a condom (!).  Numerous remixes and rarities originally included on the band's singles of the era have not been included in this reissue.

"Version 2.0" of Version 2.0 is due in stores on June 22.  You can peruse the track listing and the currently available pre-order links below!

Being a HUGE Garbage fan, I'm happy that this is coming out - except for one thing: there's nothing on this set for the die-hards, for those of us who already have all the singles.

Same here. I have all these singles already, so I really have to give my $15 to an up-and-coming or still-small artist. Feels like the right thing to do. Aurora and Wye Oak for me. I think Shirley would approve.
