For the last several years, Run Out Groove, has given music fans the power to vote on new vinyl titles mined from the vaults of Warner Music. Over the years, some stellar titles just didn't get enough votes to move on to the pressing plants. Today, Run Out Groove announced a new partnership with vinyl micro-pressers QRATES to bring some of these worthy titles onto vinyl. The titles up for pre-order include: Better Than Ezra'sFriction, Baby, Fred Neil's Bleecker & MacDougal, The Incredible String Band'sThe Hangman's Beautiful Daughter, and Ronnie Hawkins and The Hawks' Mr. Dynamo. All four are available now for pre-order directly from Run Out Groove and QRATES. The pre-order window will be open for 75 days, then each title will be manufactured on-demand and in limited numbers.
Run Out Groove reminds music fans that, due to the on-demand nature of each pressing, it can typically take 8 to 10 weeks for QRATES to deliver the album. But with all the production being handled by Record Industry, fans can expect it to be well worth the wait and that each title will be up to par with the rest of the Run Out Groove catalog. Let's take a look at each title!
Better Than Ezra's alt-rock classic, Friction Baby, will be pressed on 140-gram clear vinyl and housed in a direct-to-board jacket. Best known for their 1993 platinum-selling album Deluxe and their smash single "Good," the band released Friction Baby in 1996 to much critical acclaim. With hits like "Desperately Waiting" and "King of New Orleans," it's no wonder the album has garnered so much recognition among aficionados. The album hasn't been released on vinyl since 1996, and second-hand copies command high prices on the resale market, so place your pre-orders soon!
From alternative rock to freewheelin' folk, Run Out Groove and QRATES also present a new reissue of Fred Neil's debut album, Bleecker & MacDougal. The 1965 album shone the spotlight on Neil's songwriting abilities (which would later be affirmed by the smash hit "Everybody's Talkin'"), as well as his unique abilities an an interpreter of folk songs. He's joined on the album by fellow scene-sters Felix Pappalardi on bass, John Sebastian on harmonica, and Greenwich Village mainstay on Pete Childs on dobro and electric guitar. For its new vinyl run, QRATES and Run Out Groove will press the rare 1965 mono mix of the album -- sourced from the original analog masters -- for the first time on vinyl since its original outing! Pressings will be done on-demand and will be limited based on pre-order numbers. Secure your copy here!
Another folk classic due for release is The Incredible String Band's The Hangman's Beautiful Daughter. Hailing from the U.K. folk underground, the group's eclectic fusion of folk, world music, and rock inspired countless others, including Robert Plant and Paul McCartney. That unique blend is on full display on this classic 1968 title. For its new pressing, Run Out Groove and QRATES will present the record on 140-gram blue, white, and black color vinyl. The disc will be housed in the rare U.K. edition's cover art and will be limited in number based on pre-orders. A must for any folk-rock record library, get your copy of The Hangman's Beautiful Daughter here!
Finally, Run Out Groove and QRATES have announced the release of Ronnie Hawkins and The Hawks' Mr. Dynamo. Originally released in 1960, it features the Canadian rock pioneer launching through a series of rockers with a backup band including Levon Helm on drums. Indeed, over the course of the decade, The Hawks would morph into what became The Band. For its first-ever vinyl reissue, the pioneering album will be pressed onto 140-gram red vinyl, cut at Record Industry, and presented in a direct-to-board jacket. Don't miss this slice of prime Canadian rock and roll; place your pre-order here.
With titles that run the gamut of folk and rock, old and new, you really can't go wrong with any of these newly released titles. All four are available now for pre-order directly from Run Out Groove and QRATES.

Losing titles I'd love to see: Tuff Darts, Fear, Chick Corea, and especially Lorraine Ellison. Also the Meters, who I don't see winning against Los Lobos and L7. (I thought for sure they'd beat Cher...)
