ABBA's 1979 album Voulez-Vous, the pop masters' sixth studio album, is beloved today for such classic songs as "I Have a Dream," "Does Your Mother Know," and "Chiquitita."  Now, for its 40th anniversary, UMG and Polar Music are marking the occasion with a new array of reissues.  On June 14, Voulez-Vous will return to the marketplace in the following formats:

• Half-Speed Mastered 2LP set pressed on 180-gram vinyl, mastered at Abbey Road Studios, and cut at 45 RPM; Colored vinyl 7-inch vinyl box set, with seven singles including "Voulez-Vous," "Summer Night City," "'I Have a Dream," "Gimme! Gimme! Gimme! (A Man After Midnight)," "Does Your Mother Know," "Chiquitita," and the extended dance mix of "Voulez-Vous"; and
• each of the above singles will also be available as a limited-edition standalone picture disc.

Voulez-Vous first arrived in stores in April 1979, sixteen months after the release of ABBA: The Album.  The culmination of a year's worth of recording, it was the group's first album to be primarily recorded at their own Polar Studios.  It's also ABBA's only album to feature recording outside of Sweden, as the backing track to "Voulez-Vous" was partially cut in Miami at the renowned Criteria Studios.  Voulez-Vous embraced the joyful disco sound, and the cover shot was even taken at a Stockholm nightclub.

Upon its release, the LP was a worldwide success, reaching No. 1 in the U.K. (and remaining atop the chart for a month) and throughout Europe (including, of course, Sweden).  It performed almost as well elsewhere, reaching the top ten in Canada, New Zealand, and Australia, and the top 20 in the United States.  While a CD iteration isn't part of the current plans, the album has been reissued and remastered on CD multiple times including in 1997, 2001, 2005 (as part of the Complete Studio Recordings box), and most recently in the 2010 CD/DVD Deluxe Edition.
