On the heels of the news about his live album vinyl and CD reissues, Paul McCartney has announced another reissue project: this one involving the sole album by his wife, Linda, Wide Prairie. Originally released in 1998, the album collected tracks that she sang and played on during her time in Wings, including the non-album single "Seaside Woman" / "B-Side to Seaside." There's also solo material from the 1980s and '90s; covers of such classics as "Poison Ivy" and "Mr. Sandman"; and her final recording, a collaboration with Paul McCartney and son James called "The Light Comes From Within."
Marking its first re-issue, Wide Prairie will be reissued in two vinyl configurations: standard black vinyl and web store-exclusive color vinyl, both due on August 2. The Paul McCartney web store notes that the album will be reissued on CD and released digitally on the same day, but links for those editions are not yet available.
Attendees to the July 5th opening of the Linda McCartney Retrospective photography exhibition in Glasgow will be able to pick up their copies at the event. The exhibition was curated by Paul, Mary, and Stella McCartney and will be followed by a new Linda McCartney photo book called Polaroids, due in October.

I know a lot of folks hated Linda McCartney and felt she lacked talent. I,for one, liked her a lot and really enjoyed this album when it first came out. I am glad it is being re-issued. I only hate that there are no bonus tracks included. Hope the CD version does materialize.
