When a new pressing of Janet Jackson's breakthrough album Control was announced earlier this year, we speculated that perhaps the Rock and Roll Hall of Famer and R&B/pop legend would finally be the subject of some catalog activity. That wish seems to be coming true: four more of Janet's albums are coming to vinyl on July 24, along with an expanded edition of a remix album to be released in America for the first time!
A&M/Virgin/UMe will press Janet Jackson's Rhythm Nation 1814 (1989), janet. (1993), The Velvet Rope (1997) and All For You (2001) on 2LP black vinyl on July 26. (Limited edition color variants will also be available: silver for Rhythm Nation 1814, clear for janet., deep red for The Velvet Rope and a picture disc edition for All For You.) For janet. and The Velvet Rope, it's the first time either will be available on the format in America, and each will feature the hidden bonus tracks from the original CD ("Whoops Now" and "Can't Be Stopped," respectively) for the first time on wax. It's also the first time Rhythm Nation gets a double-vinyl pressing, allowing the interludes and full edits of songs that were left off the original release 30 years ago to be present.
Along with Control, each of these four albums reached the top of the Billboard Hot 100 and were certified multi-platinum by the RIAA. They also spun off multiple Top 5 singles: in particular, Rhythm Nation's seven singles from 1989 to 1991 tied big brother Michael's landmark achievement from Thriller.
Fans looking for some rare or hard-to-find content will flip for a new pressing of Control: The Remixes on 2LP and CD. Originally released in Europe and Japan in 1987, this pressing features all the tracks of the former territory's releases (along with the original U.K. vinyl cover) plus additional mixes from the Control era. It's the perfect representation of the dance-ready qualities of Control's five U.S. Top 5 hits. (A multicolor variant of that vinyl can be ordered through uDiscover Music's store.)
Control: The Remixes is also available July 26. Full track details and pre-order links for every title is below!

Finally at last I’m definitely excited about the remixes!

"Yay!" on the remixes, but interesting they're doing it this way instead of issuing a 2-disc "Control" R/M with this as the second disc. Then I have to remember that Japan in particular was really big on marketing an artist's extended mixes as a separate release. Hall & Oates and Basia also come to mind.
