Turn Around, Look At Me: Real Gone Continues Keely Smith Reissue Series With "You're Breaking My Heart"

August 22, 2019 By Sam Stone Leave a Comment

PRE-ORDER FROM AMAZON.COM

Once upon a time, Keely Smith was one-half of Las Vegas' royal couple, alongside her then-husband Louis Prima.  But she soared in a career of her own, and following tenures at Capitol and Dot Records, she signed with Frank Sinatra's Reprise label with the promise of retaining rights to her master tapes.  In 2016, Real Gone Music began bringing her Reprise titles on CD to the first time ever.

Following reissues of The Intimate Keely Smith, Little Girl Blue/Little Girl New, and Sings the John Lennon/Paul McCartney Songbook, RGM has slated the September 13 CD debut of You're Breaking My Heart, the late chanteuse's hard-to-find, U.K.-only album from 1965.  Among its 12 songs are interpretations of Neal Hefti's "Sunday Mornin'", the Willie Nelson standard "Crazy," Jimmie Hodges' "Someday (You'll Want Me to Want You)," and her original composition "I'll Always Be in Love With You."

For its CD debut, Real Gone has remastered the album from original tape sources and supplemented it with a long-lost demo of the Tony Hatch number "Call Me."  The package will also include new notes by Steve Hochman, illustrated with vintage images.

After 50 years out of print, You're Breaking My Heart returns to shops and makes its first appearance on CD.  Fans should act quickly and secure a copy with the links below!

Sam Stone

Sam Stone has been obsessed with catalog music ever since his folks gave him a Contours best-of collection for his fourth birthday. He quickly began to learn all he could about rock and roll history and beyond, a passion that continues to this day. Sam followed his love for music to the classroom, earning a B.A. from Towson University in Electronic Media and Film, concentrating on radio and audio production, as well as an M.A. in Audio Arts from Syracuse University. He has put his knowledge and skills to work at prominent reissue labels and is excited to bring his perspectives on catalog music to a broader audience. When he’s not writing for The Second Disc, Sam can be found researching about music, talking about Joni Mitchell’s career, and adding another box set to his Amazon wish list.
