One of the best-selling Christmas albums of all time is getting the deluxe treatment today with Columbia Records and Legacy Recordings' 2-CD reissue of Mariah Carey's Merry Christmas in time for its 25th anniversary.

Carey's fourth album and first holiday effort (the sequel Merry Christmas II You arrived in 2010) teamed the chanteuse with producer-arranger Walter Afanasieff (Barbra Streisand, Celine Dion, Johnny Mathis), among others, on a sparkling set of original songs and holiday classics. The album's upbeat "All I Want for Christmas Is You" quickly became its calling card as well as a true modern-day standard covered by artists from Michael Bublé to Melissa Manchester. The effervescent tune has charted on the Billboard AC , Hot 100, Hot Digital, and Holiday 100 charts (and more) and was even certified double platinum as a ringtone. When it rose last Christmas to No. 3 on the Hot 100, it became the first holiday song to reach the top five since "The Chipmunk Song" in 1959. It remains a staple of holiday radio airplay year after year while the album itself continues to rack up sales. It's been certified quintuple platinum and has sold over 15 million copies worldwide.

The new 2-CD expanded edition of Merry Christmas has the original album plus the international bonus track "God Rest Ye Merry, Gentlemen" on Disc One, while the second disc is packed with 18 more holiday treats. These include the newly-recorded "Sugar Plum Fairy" in two versions, six live tracks recorded at New York's Cathedral of St. John the Divine in 1994, five cuts from Carey's subsequent holiday releases Merry Christmas II You, The Star: Original Motion Picture Soundtrack, and Mariah Carey's All I Want for Christmas Is You: Original Motion Picture Soundtrack, and bonus tracks and remixes added to past iterations of the album.

In addition, a number of exclusive singles will be available at Carey's online store including festive releases on CD, vinyl, and even cassette. The limited edition CD single of "All I Want for Christmas Is You" has four versions of the classic song plus an exclusive live version of "Hero" from the St. John the Divine performance.  The Japan-only edition of the 2-CD set has an exclusive bonus of "All I Want for Christmas Is You" live at the Tokyo Dome.
