In 1999, Rhino Handmade released The Complete Fun House Sessions, a 7-CD box set that included almost every take from The Stooges' sophomore effort, Fun House. Now, the label will celebrate the 50th anniversary of Fun House with a luxurious vinyl box set, due July 17.
Fun House - 50th Anniversary Deluxe Edition includes a newly remastered 2-LP, 45rpm presentation of the landmark album alongside the vinyl debut of the Complete Fun House Sessions. Available exclusively through Rhino.com, the 15-LP box set will be limited to 1,970 numbered copies. Listeners will hear "no less than every take from the Fun House sessions, in order, exactly as The Stooges recorded them," followed by Have Some Fun: Live at Ungano's, a 1970 concert unearthed in 2010. Completing the set is a pair of 7" singles spotlighting alternative mixes of the "Down On The Street"/"I Feel Alright" single. The first features the French mono mixes while the second features unique single mixes from the Complete Fun House Sessions box. Each features reproduced art.
And if the music weren't enough, there's also a 28-page booklet with extensive liner notes, including an essay by Henry Rollins and contributions from Flea, Joan Jett, Shirley Manson, Duff McKagan, Thurston Moore, Tom Morello, Karen O, Steven Van Zandt, Mike Watt, and others. Rounding out the set is a pair of 24"x12" posters, a pair of 12"-square prints, a turntable slipmat, and a 45 adapter. Take a closer look in this teaser video.

I have the Rhino Handmade box & it took me a few years to get through the entire collection. Fun House is one of my faves but there are those artists who don't want a single note to be released from the vault...then there are those who leave you numb with it.
Jarmo Keranen says
I would buy this, but it's missing all the Iggy's farting he make during the sessions. I would like to listen them in remastered 5.1 version. A complete let down!
The Thorn says
Lol. Classic. 🙂
Mark says
That's an awful lot of LP side flipping. Thank goodness for CDs.
Jeremy Shatan says
I'd love to compare the remastered vinyl to my French Elektra pressing, which sounds amazing!
