Sweet news incoming... If you're a connoisseur of all things psychedelic, prepare to feel like a kid in a candy shop. Mobile Fidelity, the boutique audiophile label, has announced a special reissue of Vanilla Fudge's seminal, self-titled psych-rock debut.
Limited to just 3,000 copies, this numbered 2-LP, 45-rpm pressing features Vanilla Fudge in its original mono mix, remastered from the original master tapes with the impeccable attention to detail that's given MoFi their reputation in the industry. The press release boasts a pressing that "unveils the baroque underpinnings, gorgeous harmonies, and low-end-plumbing organ riffs" that helped make this album such a classic. With an improved soundstage, the band's genre-expanding heavy improvisations, psych freak-outs, and radical reinterpretations of pop fare from The Beatles, The Zombies, Sonny & Cher, and The Supremes can be experienced in a richer and more dynamic presentation.
So turn it up and hear for yourself why Vanilla Fudge attracted the attention of Deep Purple, Yes, Chicago, and even Zeppelin. This is one sweet you won't regret!
Mobile Fidelity's 2-LP 180-gram 45rpm Mono reissue is due soon, though a firm release date has yet to be announced. You can purchase it from the Music Direct Online Shop. An SACD edition of the same master - limited to 2,000 copies - has been announced, as well. You order it here.

Metalhead says
Sam,
Did you score the mofi vinyl Vanilla Fudge?
If so, would you be so kind as to post how it sounds, pressing quality, etc and a comparison if you have an original or early re-issue?
I have an original or early repress and it is strident, bright, and the sound quality is poor on vinyl although my copy is quiet and flat. I bought a copy on compact disc, Hell, maybe 10 or 15 years ago and the cd was crap for sound quality as well. I love the music and songs but the recording just doesn't convey the magic.
I will buy this in a micro-second DEPENDING on source and re-mix quality. If you have it would you please let inquiring minds know?
Thanks
