Last year, JSP Records premiered its latest archival release celebrating the life and remarkable artistry of Judy Garland. Lost Tracks 2: 1936-1967 collected 50 rarities on two discs spanning the entirety of the late superstar's career, 40 of which were new to CD. Now, on June 26, JSP will release a single-disc "highlights" edition of that seminal set with 25 tracks, adding one previously unreleased bonus cut.
The Best of Lost Tracks 2: 1936-1967 premieres on CD young Judy's rendition of Jerome Kern and Dorothy Fields' "You Couldn't Be Cuter" which the duo wrote for the 1938 film Joy of Living. It's joined by 25 selections from the original set including renditions of classics by Rodgers and Hart ("Johnny One Note"), Irving Berlin ("Always," "Blue Skies," "How Deep Is the Ocean"), Cole Porter ("Easy to Love," "I Happen to Like New York"), and Harold Arlen and E.Y. Harburg ("Down with Love" and, of course, "Over the Rainbow"). The main portion of the set concludes with Andre and Dory Previn's "I'll Plant My Own Tree" recorded for Garland's abortive turn as Helen Lawson in the film Valley of the Dolls. Tony Martin appears on a duet of Roger Edens' "Minnie from Trinidad" from 1941's Ziegfeld Girl.
This collection is the latest in JSP's long line of Garland anthologies which began with 2010's Lost Tracks 1929-1959 and continued through Smilin' Through: The Singles Collection 1936-1947 (2011), Judy at Carnegie Hall - The Historic Concert Remastered (2012), Creations: Songs She Introduced 1929-1962 (2013), The Garland Variations (2014), The Best of Lost Tracks 1929-1959 (2015), Judy Garland Sings Harold Arlen (2016), and Classic Duets (2017). All of the recordings included on these sets have been remastered and restored, first by Peter Rynston and then by John H. Haley, and produced by JSP owner John Stedman as guided by Garland historian, author, and the sets' compiler Lawrence Schulman.

Andemoine Winrow says
Makes you wonder why they didn't put the never released track on the 2-disc release unless they couldn't find it then. Makes no sense to have the same tracks again except this time it's HALF of the 50 tracks.
Lawrence Schulman says
Hi Andemoine Winrow - "You Couldn't Be Cuter" was discovered AFTER the release of the 2-CD set. It was my call to include it.
All best.
