"Makin' my way downtown..." The words are part of a certain musical DNA of listeners from a certain generation. An inescapable earworm, a perfect oughties-pop track and - in recent years - a viral meme, Vanessa Carlton's "A Thousand Miles" is a cultural touchstone. So is Gavin DeGraw's hit single "I Don't Want to Be," a minivan-rock staple that was immortalized on the televisions series One Tree Hill.
Real Gone Music will celebrate these multiplatinum singer-songwriter classics (we're coming up on twenty years, after all!) with the vinyl debuts of DeGraw's Chariot on November 20 followed by Carlton's Be Not Nobody on November 27.
DeGraw's Chariot featured that Top Ten hit "I Don't Wanna Be" among its 11 songs blending a '70s singer-songwriter sensibility with contemporary sounds. It will arrive on "leafy sunset" transparent green vinyl, limited to 1,000 copies.
Vanessa Carlton's Be Not Nobody saw the classically-trained pianist show off her chops as an instrumentalist, songwriter and singer of considerable talent. Be Not Nobody will be pressed on red vinyl and housed in a gatefold sleeve, in an edition of only 1,300 copies.
