Can it be? Christmas season already? It seems like just yesterday it was March! Well, a time-bending pandemic isn't going to keep holiday cheer away, at least not when it comes to new yuletide reissues! Real Gone Music has a trio of them coming your way in November and December.
We told you about Season's Greetings: The Fantastic Strings of Felix Slatkin back in July when it was issued as an online-only product. If you missed out, fear not! The Vatican-endorsed Christmas classic will become widely available on CD on November 6.
Then, on November 27, the label will release a Christmas-green color vinyl edition of Cee Lo's Magic Moment, the 2012 holiday album by neo-soul icon Cee Lo Green. Boasting an eclectic range of Christmas-themed tunes (among them "Rudolph, the Red-Nosed Reindeer," "White Christmas," Donny Hathaway's "This Christmas," and even Joni Mitchell's "River") and guest appearances by Rod Stewart, Trombone Shorty, Christina Aguilera, and The Muppets, it's a joyous album through and through. Now the album comes to vinyl for the first time in a festive green-hued colorway with a printed inner sleeve. With just 1,000 copies pressed up, Christmas music fans will want to hurry to place their orders.
The following week, on December 4, a vinyl reissue of the soundtrack to Dr. Seuss' The Grinch will arrive on limited-edition coke bottle clear/yellow swirl vinyl. The 2018 reboot of the classic Christmas tale is full of great music - from Danny Elfman's original score to musical selections by Jackie Wilson, Nat King Cole, The Supremes, Brian Setzer, Run-D.M.C., Tyler The Creator, and more. This edition is exclusive to Urban Outfitters shops. You can order your copy here and find your nearest location at this link.
So, as we enter the end of 2020, hopefully music lovers will be able to find joy and solace in music, whether the retail debut of Felix Slatkin's Christmas strings, Cee Lo's reimagined soulful take on holiday classics, or the eclectic soundtrack to a timeless story, rebooted. It's all due from Real Gone Music this November and December. (And we promise - with any luck, and COVID willing, Second Disc Records will resume its annual Christmas releases in 2021!)
