As the year winds to a close, Run Out Groove is keeping busy as ever. The label has recently announced upcoming titles from Halestorm, Fear Factory, and Belly.
Ten years ago, Philadelphia band Halestorm recorded a hometown show. The Atlantic Records release Live in Philly 2010 features Lzzy Hale [vocals + guitar], Arejay Hale [drums], Joe Hottinger [guitar], and Josh Smith [bass]. The band has performed with such varied and top-tier artists as Eric Church, Joan Jett, Avenged Sevenfold, Alice Cooper, ZZ Top and Evanescence, and in 2019 received a Grammy nomination in the field of Best Rock Performance for their song "Uncomfortable." That nomination followed Halestorm's 2013 win for Best Hard Rock/Metal Performance for their hit single "Love Bites (So Do I)," the first No. 1 on the Active Rock chart from a band with a female lead vocalist. The live album has been mastered for vinyl by Ted Jensen, with lacquers cut by Joe Nin-Hernes at Sterling Sound. It will be pressed on 2 LPs on clear and black mixed-color vinyl at Record Industry in the Netherlands and housed in a tip-on gatefold jacket. Live in Philly 2020 is limited to 5,000 units worldwide and will ship around December 11. It's available for pre-order now.
Los Angeles metal band Fear Factory formed in 1989 and made their major-label debut on Roadrunner Records in 1992 with Soul of a New Machine. Fame didn't come right out of the gate, though, and a major artistic breakthrough came in 1995 with sophomore album Demanufacture. A hit in Europe that earned a top 30 placement on the U.K. Albums Chart, it set the stage for Fear Factory's string of international successes. A Gold record in Australia and a Silver one in the U.K., Demanufacture made the top 10 of the Billboard Heatseekers Chart and has only grown in stature over the years. Run Out Groove is celebrating its 25th anniversary with its U.S. vinyl premiere and expanding with a previously unreleased live concert from 1996's Ozzfest. Demanufacture has been mastered for vinyl with lacquers cut by the band's producer-engineer Damien Rainaud. The 3-LP set will be pressed on transparent blue, solid white, and black mixed-color vinyl at Record Industry and housed in a tri-fold jacket containing an exclusive poster. Pre-orders are open now.
Last but certainly not least is the newest fan-voted title from ROG: Belly's Bees. The New England alt-rockers came together in 1991, formed by Tanya Donelly of Throwing Muses and The Breeders. Belly's original line-up consisted of Donelly, Fred Abong on bass, Tom Gorman on guitar, and Chris Gorman on drums. The group released two well-received albums (the second with Gail Greenwood replacing Fred Abong) before breaking up in 1995. Happily, Belly reunited with Greenwood in 2016 and a third album followed in 2018. Belly has worked with Run Out Groove to curate and design the artwork for Bees, a new collection of B-sides making their debuts on vinyl including unexpected covers of Harry Nilsson, Jimi Hendrix, The Flying Burrito Brothers, Tom Jones, and even The Sherman Brothers. Tanya Donelly comments, "This is a band-picked compilation of our favorite misfits, spanning 26 years, with most appearing on vinyl for the first time. We're proud of these strays, and there is as much love and work in our B-sides and one-offs as in our album recordings." The 2-LP 180-gram pressing will be mastered and lacquered by Jeff Powell at Sam Phillips Recording Studio. The platters are presented in a gatefold tip-on style jacket, and the first 1,000 fans to order will receive an exclusive colored vinyl version consisting of one solid yellow LP and one solid pink LP. This individually numbered and limited release is available to pre-order from now until January 15, 2021.
