The results are in! Run Out Groove has just announced its latest release, selected by fans in the label's monthly vote: a deluxe edition of Killswitch Engage's The End of Heartache. The band's third studio album and second for the Roadrunner label, the 2004 LP showcased their heavy sound described by ROG as a marriage of "thrashed-out European guitar pyrotechnics, East Coast hardcore spirit, on-stage hijinks, and enlightened lyricism that set the pace for what the turn-of-the-century deemed heavy."
By the time of The End of Heartache, the band's line-up had already changed; the LP was the first to welcome new lead singer Howard Jones (the American metalcore vocalist, not the British hitmaker of "No One Is to Blame" and "Things Can Only Get Better") and drummer Justin Foley. Lead guitarist Adam Dutkiewicz, rhythm guitarist Joel Stroetzel, and bassist Mike D'Antonio rounded out the group. (Today, the line-up remains the same save for Jesse Leach filling Jones' shoes as singer.)
The deluxe 2-LP edition from Run Out Groove mirrors the expanded 2005 CD release and reprises its six bonus tracks on one side of vinyl. The fourth side features an etching by Mike D'Antonio. The bassist comments in ROG's press release, "The fans have spoken and we heard you guys loud and clear! Finally The End of Heartache receives a much overdue, U.S. vinyl release (and facelift)! Double album, gatefold cover, bonus tracks, updated artwork, etched vinyl, and an alternate pre-order cover! We packed this classic with all the bells and whistles it deserves. Thanks to the fans who (overwhelmingly) voted...this one is for you guys." Adam Dutkiewicz offers, "Ok you record nerds...17 years after its release, we're excited to finally get The End of Heartache out on vinyl! Sorry it took so long, but better late than never, right? Hope to see you all on the road wicked soon."
Those who pre-order The End of Heartache directly from ROG or Roadrunner Records will receive an exclusive pressing on transparent red, white, and black mixed color vinyl housed in an alternate cover. The standard edition (which will be available to independent record stores) will be pressed on solid silver and black vinyl. The individually numbered and limited 2-LP set is available for pre-order now through May 11 only at which time the title will be pressed based upon the number of orders received.
