Back in March, we reported on the news that a massive 42-CD box set was on the way from pioneering metal band Judas Priest. Now, the metal titans have confirmed those initial reports. On October 15, Sony Music will release Reflections: 50 Heavy Metal Years of Music including every one of the band's official live and studio albums to date plus 13 discs of previously unreleased live material. It's all been mastered by Alex Wharton at Abbey Road Studios, with the additional material restored and mixed by Tom Allom at La Cucina W8. The band will tour the U.S. this fall to coincide with the box's release (which currently appears exclusive to JudasPriest.com).
The recorded legacy of the Birmingham band begins with 1974's Rocka Rolla, found on Disc One of the upcoming box. Disc 29 features 2018's Firepower, Priest's final album to date. In between are all the expected classics, among them Sad Wings of Destiny (1976), Sin After Sin (1977), Killing Machine/Hell Bent for Leather (1978), British Steel (1980), Screaming for Vengeance (1982), Defenders of the Faith (1984), Turbo (1986), Painkiller (1990), Nostradamus (2008), and Redeemer of Souls (2014).
The box continues with a series of concerts spanning 1979-1991, five of which are previously unreleased:
- Live in Atlanta '82 (CDs 30-31, previously unreleased);
- Live at the Mudd Club '79 (CD 32);
- Live in Houston '86 (CDs 33-34);
- Live in New Haven '88 (CDs 35-36);
- Los Angeles '90 (CD 37, previously unreleased);
- London '81 (CD 38, previously unreleased);
- Denver '80 (CD 39, previously unreleased); and
- Irvine '91 (CD 40, previously unreleased).
Two more discs of live performances (and one studio demo) selected from the archive round out the collection. The package has been designed by the band's longtime collaborator Mark Wilkinson and includes Ross Halfin's photos signed by each band member (founding members Rob Halford, Glenn Tipton, and Ian Hill, plus Richie Faulkner and Scott Travis). The discs are all housed in Japanese-style mini-sleeves, and there's also plenty of swag: a numbered British Steel blunt metal razor; a book of photos, posters, advertisements, and backstage passes; two replica tour posters; and a British Steel tour program.
Two 16-song highlights editions (1CD and 2LPs) will also be released to general retail. All formats will arrive from Sony Music on October 15. You'll find pre-order links and the track listing below.

Tom Heusinger says
Really. Still no Twin Turbo Sessions and the Stock Aitken Waterman Sessions are also AWOL. Not sure if I want this box next to the other Complete Album Collection Box Set.
Dave says
Am I correct in thinking that this does not include the 'previously unreleased' bonus tracks included in the previous re-issue campaign?
revroth says
Do we know if this will be available from Amazon? They won't charge before the ship date, while the JP store whacks your card upon placing the order.
RJD says
While all the 'classic era' live material makes this set enticing, the price tag and amount of studio material I'll never listen to or listen to once (the Owens albums and basically anything after '85) I'll have to pass. I hope they offer individual releases, or a smaller live box, at some point.
