Emerson, Lake and Palmer's first, self-titled album reached stores in 1970, heralding the arrival of one of the most significant bands of the progressive rock era. Though ELP became known for its grand, classically-inspired album epics, the band also charted singles in the U.K., U.S., and throughout the world. On August 26, BMG will recognize the 45 RPM legacy of Emerson, Lake and Palmer with the release of Singles, a collection of twelve seven-inch, two-sided singles culled from their U.K. and international discographies.
Beginning with Greg Lake's timeless ballad "Lucky Man" b/w "Knife-Edge" (1970, No. 48 U.S.) and concluding with Lake and Geoff Downes' "Affairs of the Heart" b/w "Better Days" (1992), Singles features a dozen 45s - all remastered by Andy Pearce and featuring the original single mixes and edits - with replicated original picture sleeve artwork and labels. These replicas are complemented by an extensive booklet with liner notes, a foreword from Carl Palmer, and a collection of companion art cards based on the single sleeves.
Other singles represented in the box include "From the Beginning" (1972, No. 39 U.S.), "Jerusalem" (1973, No. 52 U.K.), "Fanfare for the Common Man" (1977, No. 2 U.K.), "C'est La Vie" (1977, No. 91 U.S.), and the all-time holiday classic "I Believe in Father Christmas." In his foreword, Carl Palmer recalls the significance of ELP's single releases: "This box set of singles is very important to the development of ELP. The music that you will hear opened the door to radio around the world, and then the musical concept of ELP was born."
Keith Emerson and Greg Lake both passed away in 2016; Carl Palmer keeps the flame of his bandmates burning with such projects as his ELP Legacy Tour which has just wrapped a series of dates throughout North America and Europe. Singles, shedding light on one aspect of the Emerson, Lake & Palmer legacy, is due from BMG on August 26. You'll find the track listing and pre-order links below.

What happened to the updated release of Trilogy? A few months ago I had seen a listing of a remastered LP coming out on one of the RSD’s listings.
