Vince Guaraldi, It's the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown: Original Soundtrack Recording (Craft Recordings)
CD: Amazon U.S. / Amazon U.K. / Amazon Canada
LP: Amazon U.S. / Amazon U.K. / Amazon Canada
Pumpkin-Shaped LP: Craft Recordings
Pumpkin Patch Splatter LP: Craft Recordings
Thanks to a new tape discovery, Craft Recordings is able to present the first true, complete soundtrack to It's the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown! The Emmy-nominated 1966 television special was the third overall for Charles M. Schulz's Peanuts series and the second to be holiday-themed, after A Charlie Brown Christmas. Upon its October 27, 1966 premiere, it earned a whopping 49 share in the ratings and was so successful that CBS re-aired it every year through 2000, with ABC picking up the tradition after that. Yet despite a beloved score by Vince Guaraldi (who else?), a soundtrack album to Great Pumpkin was never released in any audio format until 2018. That release, while certainly welcome, featured the soundtrack as heard in the special, i.e., complete with sound effects. This new upgrade has been sourced from the newly-discovered original session reels. It will be available on CD, digitally, 45 RPM black vinyl, 33-1/3 pumpkin-shaped orange translucent vinyl, and a Craft-exclusive 45 RPM "pumpkin patch" splatter vinyl LP limited to 500 units. Emerson, Lake and Palmer, Singles (BMG) (Amazon U.S. / Amazon U.K. / Amazon Canada)
This new vinyl box collects twelve seven-inch, two-sided singles culled from Emerson, Lake, and Palmer's U.K. and international discographies. Beginning with Greg Lake's timeless ballad "Lucky Man" b/w "Knife-Edge" (1970, No. 48 U.S.) and concluding with Lake and Geoff Downes' "Affairs of the Heart" b/w "Better Days" (1992), Singles features a dozen 45s - all remastered by Andy Pearce and featuring the original single mixes and edits - with replicated original picture sleeve artwork and labels. These replicas are complemented by an extensive booklet with liner notes, a foreword from Carl Palmer, and a collection of companion art cards based on the single sleeves. Read more here.
