Real Gone Music has got that holiday feeling...or, more specifically, That Holiday Feeling. This Friday, November 10, the label will return Steve Lawrence and Eydie Gorme's 1964 yuletide classic to vinyl for the first time in over 50 years. The reissue joins RGM and Second Disc Records' releases on the same date of Arthur Fiedler and The Boston Pops' Ultimate Pops Christmas Party! and the various-artists collection The Great Songs of Christmas: Masterworks Edition.
The upcoming reissue of That Holiday Feeling is the first vinyl title resulting from the partnership between Real Gone Music and Steve and Eydie's son David Lawrence and his wife Faye to revisit and re-present their classic discography. Naturally, it kicks things off in jubilant fashion. Produced by Robert Mersey (Andy Williams, Johnny Mathis) and arranged by a "Who's Who" including Don Costa, Billy Byers, Patrick Williams, and Glenn Osser, That Holiday Feeling is one of the happiest, most cheerful Christmas albums of all time. It features Steve and Eydie wrapping their distinctive voices around both original songs ("That Holiday Feeling," "Let Me Be the First to Wish You Merry Christmas") and Christmas favorites ("Sleigh Ride," "Let It Snow! Let It Snow! Let It Snow!"), all rendered in bright, swinging, and truly heartwarming style.
David Lawrence has written an introduction to the new vinyl release, and TSD's Joe Marchese provides the liner notes for the insert. The package has been designed in the fashion of the original by John Sellards. That Holiday Feeling has been remastered and restored from the original stereo tapes by Eric Boulanger at The Bakery under the supervision of David Lawrence, and pressed on green vinyl. Look for it on Friday from Real Gone Music! You'll find pre-order links and the track listing below. In case you missed it last year, That Holiday Feeling remains available in an expanded edition on CD.
Fans of the celebrated couple should also tune in to Public Television stations nationwide for the debut of Steve Lawrence and Eydie Gorme: Memories of My Mom and Dad, hosted by their son, David Lawrence. Part of the acclaimed My Music series, it debuts the weekend of December 2 with preview broadcasts the weekend after Thanksgiving in various cities - please check local listings.
