Get ready to hit the jackpot: one of Rhino's first big reissues of 2024 is a new expanded edition of Billion Dollar Babies, the 1973 album by glam rockers Alice Cooper.
Available March 8 as a 2CD or 3LP set, this Billion Dollar Babies expansion builds upon even the 2001 double-disc edition issued by Rhino back in 2001. Alongside the remastered album, fans will find a bonus disc (two in the vinyl set) featuring a 1973 live set (previously issued in part on that 2001 reissue and in full on vinyl as the 2019 Record Store Day exclusive Billion Dollar Babies Live), two previously released outtakes, a quartet of single versions not present on the previous repackage, and the fan favorite "Slick Black Limousine," released on a flexidisc with copies of England's New Musical Express. Liner notes in both sets include an oral history of the record with Alice Cooper's surviving members - singer Alice Cooper, rhythm guitarist/keyboardist Michael Bruce, bassist Dennis Dunaway and drummer Neal Smith (lead guitarist Glen Buxton died in 1997) - as well as producer Bob Ezrin. The gatefold LP packaging reproduces the original textured snakeskin wallet design of the original vinyl jacket, complete with a facsimile of the original "$1 Billion Bill" poster.
The penultimate album by the Alice Cooper band (frontman Vincent Furnier would later adopt the name for his successful solo career), Billion Dollar Babies built on the success of its predecessor, 1972's School's Out. With undeniable rock radio staples like "Elected," "No More Mr. Nice Guy" and "Hello Hooray" and shocking deep cuts like "Unfinished Sweet," "I Love the Dead" and "Raped and Freezin'," Billion Dollar Babies joined 1971's Killer (recently remastered and expanded alongside School's Out) and a 1974 greatest hits album as the first Alice Cooper albums to be certified platinum by the Recording Industry Association of America in 1986. In recent years, Cooper - still known for his theatrical appearance and shock rock stage show when not playing golf, being a devoted husband and helping other rockers kick the alcohol addiction that nearly destroyed his career - has had his original band rejoin him on various albums and on tour. (The band was inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in 2011.)

4-5 extra fracks than the previous reissue, I might pick it up for the single versions. I hope the live show sounds better, it was released before the “Good To See You Alice Cooper” film was issued on DVD.

I'm a old fan of the years 1970-74 and only own cd-versions from the 90's. So the remaster, live tracks etc. are all new to me!
