Bernie Taupin, Tribe (iTunes / Amazon)
Though best-known as Elton John's primary lyrical collaborator, Bernie Taupin released three solo albums (as well as two with the group Farm Dogs). 1987's Tribe is his final solo record to date. Its ten original songs were co-written with producer Martin Page; The Motels' Martha Davis guests on "She Sends Shivers" while Elton himself drops in for the tribute to "Billy Fury." With this digital release, only Taupin's 1971 debut (blending spoken word with music) is absent from streaming services.
Steve Lawrence and Eydie Gorme, The Original Hits (Real Gone Music) (iTunes / Amazon)
Real Gone has brought its new Steve Lawrence and Eydie Gorme collection to digital platforms as well as CD. The Original Hits' 20 tracks chronicles many of Steve Lawrence and Eydie Gorme's chart successes, some of which are making their official digital debuts (and all of which have been newly remastered by Mike Milchner). These include Eydie's "Don't Try to Fight It Baby" (No. 53 Pop) and "I Want You to Meet My Baby" (No. 43 Pop), and Steve's "Walking Proud" (No. 26 Pop) and "The Drifter." The latter, his final AC top 20 hit, is a true sunshine pop rarity from the pen of Paul Williams and Roger Nichols. Steve's chart-topping "Go Away Little Girl" and Eydie's top ten smash "Blame It on the Bossa Nova" are also here, along with delightful duets such as "I Want to Stay Here" (No. 28 Pop), "I Can't Stop Talking About You" (No. 35 Pop), and "We Can Make It Together" (with The Osmonds) (No. 68 Pop).
De La Soul, 3 Feet High and Rising: 35th Anniversary Edition (Chrysalis) (iTunes / Amazon)
The hip-hop group's landmark, Platinum-certified 1989 solo album produced by Prince Paul gets a 35th anniversary expansion today with a number of bonus tracks including home demos of "Plug Tunin'" and "Freedom of Speak."
REO Speedwagon, Hi Infidelity (Epic/Legacy) (iTunes / Amazon)
The best-selling album of 1981, the 10x Platinum Hi Infidelity (featuring the No. 1 smash "Keep on Loving You" and No. 5 hit "Take It on the Run") returns to digital/streaming services this weekend in a 2024 remastered edition.
Dinah Shore, Vivacious (RCA/Legacy) (iTunes / Amazon)
The late songstress' 1960 album which hasn't seen CD release outside of Japan arrives this weekend on digital services. On Vivacious, Dinah is accompanied by Harry Zimmerman's orchestra and chorus as well as vocal quintet The Skylarks on a selection of standards including "Sentimental Journey," "Any Place I Hang My Hat Is Home," and "I Got It Bad and That Ain't Good."
Gogi Grant, Granted...It's Gogi (RCA/Legacy) (iTunes / Amazon)
"The Wayward Wind" singer Gogi Grant may not be as well-remembered today as some of her contemporaries, yet she left behind a small but enchanting body of work including this 1960 Living Stereo treat arranged and conducted by the late, great Johnny Mandel. Granted...It's Gogi features her renditions of "Bibbidi-Bobbidi-Boo," "By Myself," "You're Getting to Be a Habit with Me," and more.
The Oak Ridge Boys, The Oak Ridge Boys (Columbia/Legacy) (iTunes / Amazon)
The venerable country-gospel group's 1974 Columbia debut (featuring the Grammy-winning "The Baptism of Jesse Taylor" and renditions of Allen Toussaint's "Freedom for the Stallion" and Paul Simon's "Loves Me Like a Rock") found the harmony-rich Boys taking their first baby steps towards the hitmaking years that would come at MCA Records. Second Disc Records and Real Gone Music brought this rousing album to CD as part of the 2CD package When I Sing for Him: The Complete Columbia Recordings and RCA Singles back in 2018; this digital debut comes as the band continues on a farewell tour minus longtime member Joe Bonsall, who retired earlier this year from the road.

“She Sends Shivers” doesn’t seem to be available on Spotify. The rest of Taupin’s album is though.
