I'm with the Band: Country Vocal Group Little Big Town Plans Greatest Hits Album Ahead of New Tour

Streaming might have rendered the greatest hits album a comparative rarity in today's discographies, but country quartet Little Big Town are bucking the trend, planning a new collection of popular singles (and a few re-recordings) ahead of a tour this fall.

The Alabama foursome, comprised of singers Karen Fairchild, Kimberly Schlapman, Phillip Sweet and Jimi Westbrook (all of whom perform in rich harmony, with no de facto lead singer), have been together for 25 years, but started to take off with the release of sophomore album The Road to Here in 2005. Though it just missed the Top 10 of Billboard's country charts, it was a slow burn success thanks to the singles "Boondocks" and "Bring It On Home," eventually earning a platinum certification from the Recording Industry Association of America. Soon, the quartet moved from the indie Equity Music Group to Capitol's Nashville arm, scoring big with No. 1 country singles "Pontoon," "Girl Crush" and the Taylor Swift-penned "Better Man" as well as favorites "Little White Church," "Tornado" and "Wine, Beer, Whiskey." Along the way, they earned industry acclaim, taking the Academy of Country Music's Vocal Group of the Year awards in 2013, 2015, 2016 and 2017 as well as the equivalent award from the Country Music Association annually between 2012 and 2017, plus three Grammy Awards for Best Country Duo/Group Performance ("Pontoon," "Girl Crush," "Better Man").

In addition to nine of their most enduring hits, Little Big Town's Greatest Hits includes two re-recorded versions of songs from 2010's The Reason Why: "Little White Church" (now featuring guest vocals from Miranda Lambert) and "Shut Up Train" (with a featured turn from Kelsea Ballerini), plus a new cover of Phil Collins' "Take Me Home" recorded with longtime friends and this year's tourmates, Georgia country-pop outfit Sugarland. (Both bands first played the track at the CMT Awards earlier this year.)

Greatest Hits will be available August 9 on CD or on translucent, off-white vinyl. Pre-order either version below! (As an Amazon affiliate, we earn from qualifying purchases at the below links.)

Mike Duquette (Founder) was fascinated with catalog music ever since he was a teenager. A 2009 graduate of Seton Hall University with a B.A. in journalism, Mike paired his profession with his passion through The Second Disc, one of the first sites to focus on all reissue labels great and small. His passion for reissues turned into a career, holding positions at Legacy Recordings and Rhino Records and contributing to Allmusic, Discogs, City Pages, Ultimate Classic Rock and Mondo Records, for whom he penned liner notes for his favorite piece of music: John Williams' Oscar-winning score to 'E.T. The Extra-Terrestrial.' Born and raised in New Jersey, Mike lives in Astoria, Queens with his wife, a cat named Ravioli, twin daughters and a large yet tasteful collection of music.

Love Little Big Town. There's also a limited, chocolate/cream vinyl available from UMG Nashville's website.
