Jimmy Page and The Black Crowes, Live at the Greek (Silver Arrow)
3CD: Amazon U.S. / Amazon U.K. / Amazon Canada
6LP: Amazon U.S. / Amazon U.K. / Amazon Canada
2LP: Amazon U.S. / Amazon U.K. / Amazon Canada
A rare concert team-up between one of the great blues-rock bands of the last four decades and one of the greatest guitarists of all time is getting revisited in a new 3CD or 6LP set (with 2LP highlights also available). Originally released in 2000, less than a year after it was recorded, Jimmy Page and The Black Crowes' Live At The Greek was a double album featuring the group and the former Led Zeppelin guitarist tearing through renditions of classics from the latter band's catalogue, plus a heap of blues standards. Now it's being expanded with additional 14 tracks, including soundcheck audio and - for the first time - Page sitting in on cuts from the Crowes' discography. Original album producer Kevin Shirley has remixed and remastered this expanded presentation. Read more here.
Goo Goo Dolls, A Boy Named Goo: 30th Anniversary Deluxe Edition (Warner)
2CD: Amazon U.S. / Amazon U.K. / Amazon Canada
2LP: Amazon U.S. / Amazon U.K. / Amazon Canada / Official Store (sea blue variant)
A new deluxe edition of the Goo Goo Dolls' breakthrough album expands 1995's A Boy Named Goo as a 2CD and 2LP set. In addition to the alt-rock classic, featuring "Name," "Long Way Down," "Naked," and others, both sets will include a previously unreleased disc of performances taped at The Aladdin in Las Vegas in the spring of 1996, featuring nine tracks from the album and two from their lesser-known early '90s releases. (The bonus CD in that package will add another 10 tracks, including four non-album B-sides and six mostly unreleased radio performances captured for the syndicated Modern Rock Live.) This reissue follows last year's release of a full set from around the same time, recorded in New York in 1995 and originally released in part on the last reissue of A Boy Named Goo in 2015. World Party, Best in Show (Seaview)
CD: Amazon U.S. / Amazon U.K. / Amazon Canada
2LP: Amazon U.S. / Amazon U.K. / Amazon Canada
The work of the late Welsh musical polymath Karl Wallinger is revisited with a worldwide expanded release of the sole compilation credited to his project World Party. Originally released in certain territories (and not his native United Kingdom) to promote a tour in 2007, Best in Show was rather cynically designed in sequence with World Party's most popular tracks on digital music shops, thus kicking off with debut single "Ship of Fools" and originally featuring no less than seven tracks from their successful sophomore album Goodbye Jumbo (1990). This new release, available on CD and (for the first time) yellow and red double vinyl, balances things out somewhat with three additional tracks: one each from mid-'90s efforts Bang! (1993) and Egyptology (1997), plus the favorite "Everybody's Falling in Love," released on the 2012 rarities box set Arkeology. The track list has also been re-ordered, with all audio newly remastered and artwork slightly reorganized. Read more here.
Rufus & Chaka Khan, Stompin' At The Savoy - Live / Seal in Red (Robinsongs/Cherry Red) (Amazon U.S. / Amazon U.K. / Amazon Canada)
This two-for-one set from Robinsongs chronicles the last works of funk legends Rufus - including their powerful final bow with singer Chaka Khan. The 1983 studio album Seal in Red has been paired with the live/studio hybrid Stompin' At The Savoy - Live on 2 CDs. The set features new liner notes by Lois Wilson of MOJO as well as three bonus tracks, including single versions of "Take It to the Top" and the smash hit "Ain't Nobody," as well as a rare remix of the latter track produced by Frankie Knuckles in 1989.
