It's not Hook, but La La Land Records has another title of John Williams' from the same part of the alphabet in their last batch, as well as several other hotly-requested titles from some of the most beloved composers of the modern age.

A full rundown is after the jump!The final four titles delivered by the film score label are two that were previously promised - the premiere release of James Horner's score to Jade (1995) and an expanded presentation of Danny Elfman's music to Batman Returns (1992) - and two delightful surprises: Jerry Goldsmith's music to Star Trek V: The Final Frontier (1989) and John Williams' Home Alone (1990).

Jade (1995) was an erotic crime thriller directed by William Friedkin and written by Joe Eszterhas (just before his goodwill in Hollywood waned with the release of Showgirls). Horner turned in an Asian-influenced score that proved to be a strong entry in an already strong year for the composer (he also wrote scores for Apollo 13, Braveheart and Jumanji, among others, that same year). Its premiere on CD includes source cues and unused music, and the set includes liner notes by LLL contributor Daniel Schweiger featuring commentary from Friedkin. This title is limited to 3,000 copies.

In the summer of 1992, it was Christmas time in Gotham City. Batman Returns saw Michael Keaton return as The Dark Knight under the continued direction of Tim Burton. His foes this time out were a mousy secretary turned slinky Catwoman (Michelle Pfieffer) and a deformed, sewer-dwelling monstrosity known as The Penguin (Danny DeVito), not to mention a tycoon (Christopher Walken) who used them both as pawns. Elfman's score repeated the classic Batman theme written for the 1989 film (and so wonderfully presented on La La Land's expansion of that first film earlier this summer) while adding new ideas for chorus and strings. This release, a two-disc affair, not only adds music missing from the film and alternate cues but presents the music in a much better way than the original soundtrack did (long cues were often indexed into two tracks, making shuffle play a nightmare). The set also includes Siouxsie and The Banshee's pop theme "Face to Face." Returns is limited to 3,500 copies.

What a good year for Trekkies! Film Score Monthly expanded both Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan (1982) and Star Trek III: The Search for Spock (1984) in delightfully unlimited presentations, while Varese Sarabande's deluxe edition of the score to the 2009 Star Trek reboot was a sell-out. Expect similar returns for Star Trek V: The Final Frontier, a film not known for its quality within the series (it was awkwardly directed by Captain Kirk himself, William Shatner) but featuring a great original score by Goldsmith, who composed the music for the first Trek film in 1979. This set, co-produced by FSM head Lukas Kendall, follows the same format as the Trek II and III expansions, keeping the complete score on one disc and the original soundtrack album and bonus cues on the other disc. With 5,000 copies to sell, it'll hopefully stick around for a bit (no promises, though).

Finally, for its 20th anniversary, La La Land expands the score to Home Alone, the John Hughes-penned comedy hit about a resourceful kid accidentally left behind when his family travels abroad for Christmas. Not only does Kevin McCalister (a star-making turn by Macaulay Culkin) learn to live on his own, but he also stops a dopey pair of burglars (Joe Pesci and Daniel Stern) from robbing his house. Williams wrote a score that had its moments of cartoon dread (one writer has compared the opening theme to a horror version of Tchaikovsky's The Nutcracker) but also brilliant, modern-day additions to the Christmas carol canon including "Somewhere in My Memory" and "Star of Bethlehem," both featuring lyrics by Leslie Bricusse. While this is the only title that won't replace the original on fans' shelves (several pop carols, including The Drifters' take on "White Christmas" and a stunning rendition of "Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas" by Mel Tormé, were not licensed for this set), the disc is nearly filled to capacity, with unreleased cues and alternate material. This 3,500 copy run will be a great treat for fans of Christmas music.
