Columbia and Legacy are releasing a semi-new disc of live performances from Miles Davis in 2011.
Bitches Brew Live is a nine-track disc that features Davis and an all-star lineup (including Dave Holland, Jack DeJohnette and Chick Corea) across two historic live settings. Three tracks, never released on CD, come from a performance at the Newport Jazz Festival in 1969; the remainder of the disc comes from the iconic performance at the Isle of Wight Festival in 1970, previously released as part of Legacy's massive The Columbia Albums Collection box set. (Think of it as a counterpoint to the 40th anniversary edition of Bitches Brew itself.)
The package will feature liner notes penned by Michael Azerrad (Come as You Are: The Story of Nirvana) and featuring new interviews with Newport Jazz Festival founder George Wein and documentarian Murray Lerner. It's in stores on February 8.
