"You'll cry out for mercy, but still there'll be more..." So proclaimed English prog rockers Procol Harum on their fourth album, 1970's Home. Three years before, the group burst onto the scene with the baroque-inspired "A Whiter Shade of Pale," an international hit that topped the British charts and reached No. 5 in America. And the group presses on, having released their 12th album, Novum, in April - a month shy of 50 years since "Pale" first landed in U.K. shops.
To celebrate this half-century mark, Cherry Red's Esoteric imprint will release a deluxe, eight-disc set capturing the best of the band on record and on video. Still There'll Be More: An Anthology 1967-2017 features three discs of highlights from the band's albums two live concert debuts (a legendary 1973 date at The Hollywood Bowl with The Los Angeles Philharmonic and a 1976 set at the Bournemouth Winter Gardens in England) and three DVDs spanning the band's European TV appearances during their first decade. Footage from Top of The Pops, Beat Club and Sight and Sound is featured, with particular highlights including unaired footage from Musikladen and raw camera footage from Beat Club that omits the psychedelic camera effects added in post-production.
The deluxe package features a 68-page hardcover book that includes liner notes by Patrick Humphries, live performance notes by Procol Harum authority Roland Clare and rare and unseen personal photographs from the personal archive of the band's founder and lead singer, Gary Brooker. A reproduction of a 60 cm x 40 cm show flier from 1976 rounds out the set. Still There'll Be More: An Anthology 1967-2017 is available March 23; pre-order it below!
