We've told you about one of Real Gone's September releases: the first-ever collection of Alice Coltrane's complete Warner Bros. recordings.  Now we've got the news on a quartet of soundtrack releases also slated for the month.

The first release actually hits one day before September, on August 31.  It is a vinyl reissue of Even More Dazed and Confused, the second soundtrack album from Richard Linklater's 1993 film Dazed and Confused.  The high school coming-of-age film takes place primarily during a single day in Austin, Texas in 1976.  The ensemble cast featured several people who would later go onto greater success including Jason London, Ben Affleck, Milla Jovovich, Cole Hauser, Parker Posey, Adam Goldberg, Joey Lauren Adams, Nicky Katt, Rory Cochrane, and Matthew McConaughey.  Renee Zellweger also had a small role in the film.  While not hugely successful box-office wise upon its release in September, 1993, it received critical plaudits and has gone one to achieve cult classic status over the years.  The soundtrack heard during the film featured many rock hits from the 1970s and the first soundtrack album, released on September 28, 1993, less than a week after the film came out, featured 14 of those songs including tracks from Black Sabbath, Kiss, Deep Purple and Lynyrd Skynyrd, among others.  That album was successful enough that a sequel came out over a year later on October 25, 1994.  The second album once again featured songs from the 1970s.  A couple of artists were repeated from the first soundtrack, including ZZ Top ("Balinese"), Black Oak Arkansas ("Lord Have Mercy on my Soul"), War ("Why Can't We Be Friends"), Foghat ("I Just Want To Make Love To You") and Alice Cooper ("No More Mister Nice Guy").  Newly appearing artists included The Edgar Winter Group ("Free Ride"), The Steve Miller Band ("Living in the USA"), Seals and Crofts ("Summer Breeze"), Dr. John ("Right Place Wrong Time"), Head East ("Never Been Any Reason") and Peter Frampton with two cuts ("Show Me The Way" and "Do You Feel Like We Do").  Real Gone's reissue marks the album's vinyl debut.  The single LP is packaged in a jacket featuring production stills from the film and comes in purple and pink splatter vinyl.  It is limited to 1,300 copies.

Next up, due on September 7, is a tie-in album to the 1960s television show The Munsters.  The program was developed in response to the success of The Addams Family.  Premiering in September, 1964, the comedy told the story of a friendly family of monsters.  It starred Fred Gwynne as the Frankenstein's Monster-like Herman, Yvonne DeCarlo as his vampire wife Lily, vampire "Grandpa" played by Al Lewis, half-vampire/half-werewolf son Eddie played by Butch Patrick, and Marilyn, their teenage niece whose was not a monster and thus the family outcast originally played by Beverly Owen and then by Pat Priest.  The show ran for two seasons and spawned a sequel, The Munsters Today in the late 1980s (the characters were recast for the new show).  The original show has enjoyed a long run in syndication.

The show's theme was written by Jack Marshall in a surf-rock style.  This is perhaps what inspired Decca Records to record a tie-in album to the show in that style in 1964, which Real Gone is now reissuing on CD and vinyl.  Titled simply The Munsters, the album is not a proper soundtrack to the show but rather tries to say it is the Munster family singing new songs.  The cover proclaimed that they were "the newest teen-age singing group," but it was of course not the actors from the show.  Veteran producers Joe Hooven and Hal Winn recorded the album.  The music was performed mostly by The Wrecking Crew, including Glen Campbell and Leon Russell.  To perform the vocals, The Go-Gos were enlisted.  These Go-Gos were a male trio who had a lone LP on RCA, also in 1964.  They have no connection to the more famous group who rose to fame in the 1970s and 1980s.  Decca's LP was not the only recording to try and capitalize on the show's success in 1964.  Golden Records released At Home With The Munsters, mixing spoken stories and songs, and there were several singles of the theme song released including one by Jack Marshall himself on Capitol, Billy Strange on GNP/Crescendo and Milton DeLugg and his Orchestra on Epic.

Real Gone's reissue of the Decca album is being released on CD and limited edition vinyl and it marks the first time the LP has been reissued.  The album has been remastered by Aaron Kannowski and features liner notes by Bill Kopp.  The reissue LP comes in "Herman Green" vinyl and is limited to 800 copies.

Next on September 7 from Real Gone is a vinyl reissue of the soundtrack to another movie celebrating its 25th anniversary in 2018: True Romance.  The black-comedy crime film was directed by Tony Scott (Top Gun, Beverly Hills Cop II) and written by Quentin Tarantino.  Released one year after Reservoir Dogs, Tarantino had decided not the direct the film himself and thus it has some changes from his original screenplay but still carries many of the hallmarks for which he is known.  The movie starred Christian Slater as Elvis fanatic Clarence and Patricia Arquette as Alabama.  The two fall in love and marry and then must try to escape Alabama's life as a call-girl.  This leads to murder, drugs and the couple fleeing the mob and the police while trying to get to Mexico.  The movie had a large ensemble which included Michael Rappaport, Bronson Pinchot, Dennis Hopper, James Gandolfini, Gary Oldman, Christopher Walken, Tom Sizemore, Brad Pitt, Val Kilmer and Samuel L. Jackson.  The soundtrack, released on September 7, 1993 (just three days before the movie) mixes score cues from the film's composer Hans Zimmer (one year before his Oscar-winning work on The Lion King) and artists in several genres including rockabilly (Chris Isaak), grunge (Soundgarden) and honky-tonk (Shelby Lynne), among others.  Real Gone's new vinyl reissue comes in a newly designed custom jacket with production stills from the film and is pressed in white splatter vinyl, limited to 1,700 copies.  Real Gone is also releasing two extremely limited editions of the soundtrack exclusively on their website: an "Alabama's Pants" pink with black splatter vinyl limited to 200 copies and a "Clarence's Hawaiian Shirt" orange, blue and green vinyl limited to just 100 copies.

The final item which Real Gone has announced is a limited vinyl edition of the soundtrack to the 1999 film Go.  Written by John August (his film debut), the movie was directed by Doug Liman, coming off of his directorial debut with 1996's Swingers.  The comedic crime film follows three sets of characters in intertwining plots over the course of one night.  Its ensemble cast includes William Fichtner, Katie Holmes, Jay Mohr, Sarah Polley, Scott Wolf, Taye Diggs, Breckin Meyer, Timothy Olyphant, Jane Krakowski and Melissa McCarthy in her film debut.  Released in April, 1999, Go performed moderately well at the box office, but received critical acclaim and has gone on to become a cult classic.

The soundtrack album was released a little over a week before the film on March 30, 1999.  It featured several contemporary artists including Fatboy Slim, Natalie Imbruglia and Eagle-Eye Cherry among others.  No Doubt recorded an original song for the album: "New."  It was the first tune written by the four remaining members of the band after the departure of original keyboardist Eric Stefani and was in a different style than earlier efforts.  It would later be included on their 2000 studio album Return of Saturn.  But the biggest hit from the Go soundtrack belonged to Canadian band Len's "Steal My Sunshine."  DJs began playing the song after hearing it on the soundtrack and it eventually went to the top 10 of the Billboard Hot 100, AC, and Alternative charts.  It also hit the Top 10 in the U.K.  The success made the band move up their studio album You Can't Stop The Bum Rush (which featured the song) to May, 1999.  Unfortunately for Len, they were unable to follow up the success of the song and have become known as one-hit wonders.

Real Gone's new reissue of the soundtrack marks the vinyl debut of the album comes on 2 LPs housed in a gatefold jacket featuring production stills from the film.  It is pressed on "Gopaque" yellow vinyl and is limited to 700 copies.
