Bring Your Friends: Run Out Groove To Issue Unreleased Secret Machines Concert “Live at the Garage”

Run Out Groove Vinyl has recently announced the release of Live at the Garage, a previously unissued concert recording by alt-rockers Secret Machines. The 2-LP set captures the Dallas three-piece of Brandon Curtis (vocals, bass and keys), Benjamin Curtis (guitar and vocals), and Josh Garza (drums) as they performed a 70-minute, 12-song show at The Garage in Highbury, North London on January 18, 2006.

Secret Machines’ blend of progressive rock and Krautrock influences caught the attention of critics everywhere when they released their debut long-player, Now Here is Nowhere on Reprise in 2004. They followed it up with Ten Silver Drops in April 2006 and were later interviewed for radio by none other than David Bowie. Though Benjamin Curtis left the group in 2007 and the band has been on hiatus since 2010, it’s been reported that Garza and Brandon Curtis have reformed and are working on new music.

In the meantime, Run Out Groove has scoured the archives for this previously unreleased recording that finds the band previewing three tracks from Ten Silver Drops, along with tracks from their debut, and “The Road Leads Where It’s Led” from the EP of the same name. The set sows them at the top of their game, delivering a set of space rock that proves to be “stellar both in performance and sonic quality.” Run Out Groove’s presentation of the material is bound to impress as well. The music has been newly mastered for vinyl from lacquers cut from the original source, and the two 180-gram discs will be presented in a gatefold, tip-on sleeve featuring new art by Frank Olinsky, who also designed the covers for Now Here is Nowhere, Ten Silver Drops, and a number of the band’s singles.
