When Glenn Frey passed away in 2016, many wondered about the future of the Eagles. Happily, the band persevered and celebrated Frey's legacy with the addition of his son Deacon to the lineup as well as country superstar Vince Gill. This Sunday, ESPN will give fans a taste of the "new" Eagles with the broadcast of Live from The Forum MMXVIII. The special is culled from three performances at Inglewood, California's Forum on September 12, 14, and 15, 2018 during the band's North American tour. Highlights from all three shows have been compiled for this 26-song live album and concert film. Following the premiere on Sunday, July 5th at 8 PM EDT / 5 PM PDT presented by ESPN's Chris Berman, Live from the Forum will be released on numerous configurations encompassing CD, vinyl, DVD, BD, and streaming formats. Those all arrive from Rhino on October 16.
Director Nick Wickham shot the concert utilizing fourteen 4K cameras. Don Henley, Joe Walsh, Timothy B. Schmit, Deacon Frey, and Vince Gill delivered the goods in a marathon show drawing on every one of their original albums from Eagles (1972) to Long Road Out of Eden (2007) and such indelible hits as "Take It Easy," "Peaceful Easy Feeling," "I Can't Tell You Why," "Heartache Tonight," "Life in the Fast Lane," and "Take it to the Limit." Album favorites weren't ignored either, including "Ol' 55" and "Those Shoes." Additionally, the concert featured some of the group members' biggest solo hits including Henley's "Boys of Summer," Walsh's "Rocky Mountain Way" and "Life's Been Good" (as well as "Funk # 49" and "Walk Away" from his old band The James Gang), and Gill's "Don't Let Our Love Start Slippin' Away."

Bill says
Certainly nice to hear them again, but too bad it's only another live album.
Rich says
With ESPN showing the Eagles and Disney + showing Hamilton this weekend will be awesome for music fans of all types...
Jim says
I’d much rather them release a show from The History tour but I’ll take what I can get.
Bill says
Agreed
Joe Marchese says
"History" was a great farewell for Glenn. I did catch this tour with Vince and Deacon in NY and thought they were terrific, so I'm looking forward to this one, too.
Sherry says
I saw the show in LA and SF they were awesome!
Demetrio says
Kaching!
Mary Perkins says
I can't find it on Espn for this Sunday, have I read something wrong?
Joe Marchese says
Hi Mary, if you go to ESPN's website
https://www.espn.com/watch/schedule/
and click on "Upcoming" and then go to Sunday, it should show for 8:00 p.m. Eastern/5:00 p.m. Pacific. Hope this helps!
Zubb says
I don't get the ESPN connection, but grateful that they are airing the concert!
Brad B. says
"I was grateful that the tour structured the show so that we started out with just Don and Glenn singing an acoustic waltz ['Saturday Night'], and then I came out and we played one song with just the three of us ['Train Leaves Here This Morning'], and then they added Tim Schmit on bass and we did 'Peaceful Easy Feeling.' Then they added Walsh and we did 'Witchy Woman,' but all sitting on amps in a small setting in the middle of the stage without any backing musicians. That was my favorite part of the show, because that recreated the sound that we had in the beginning." Bernie Leadon/Rolling Stone
Very sad to know they have those performances in the vault, but the choice is to release the Ersatzagles performances instead.
Zubb says
this was a great show, however, I wish that they had let Deacon do most of his Dad's songs instead of Vince Gill. Tequila Sunrise, New Kid In Town, Lyin' Eyes etc. Deacon has the voice, he can easily do those songs. I hope they change it for their 2021 tour.
Jim says
Walmart has a 2LP exclusive.
Joe Marchese says
Thanks for the heads-up, Jim!
