A24's stunning remaster of the Talking Heads' 1984 concert film Stop Making Sense was one of the highlights of movie theaters this fall. (The surprises happened offscreen as well, when original band members David Byrne, Chris Frantz, Tina Weymouth and Jerry Harrison appeared together for the first time since their 2002 induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame for multiple interviews and promotional appearances.) Now, Jonathan Demme's classic feature is finally getting an upgraded home release this spring.
The new set presents the film on Blu-ray Disc or 4K Ultra HD, along with a fair share of extras. Footage for the deleted numbers "Cities" and "Big Business/I Zimbra" - edited into the program for its original home video release and the remastered vinyl edition from Rhino last year - will be included, along with a 25-minute making-of documentary and additional material yet to be revealed. Both the original stereo mix and a newly-created Dolby Atmos mix will be included, and the physical packaging will include a 60-page interior booklet with unseen photos, scans of original production documents and a foreword from Harrison.
The A24/Stop Making Sense celebration will continue with the recently-announced album Everyone's Getting Involved: A Tribute to Talking Heads' Stop Making Sense. The forthcoming set - mirroring the 16 tracks performed in the standard film - features covers by Lorde, The National, Miley Cyrus and Paramore, whose version of "Burning Down the House" is the album's lead single. A limited edition of the Stop Making Sense vinyl - aurally identical to Rhino's pressing last year, with new artwork by Ghanian/Chicago-based Deadly Prey Gallery - will also be available from A24 in March.
The Stop Making Sense Blu-ray or 4K UHD set ships from A24 in May. We'll update this post if and when Amazon will carry stock.

I just sent another inquiry to A24 the other day.
And Rhino seriously dropped the ball with the limited pressing of the soundtrack on vinyl and no cd...
Agreed. Rhino should Start Making Sense and issue this on cd.
This looks nice and I'd like to get it, but it's $50+ (not including shipping), so I'll probably wait and see if the cost comes down in the future.
I fear, as with the previous DVD/BR, the bonus songs are still the old crappy SD transfer from the old VHS... anyone know for sure?
