Marianne Faithfull, Faithful Forever... (UMR - Record Store Day U.K. Exclusive)
Faithfull Forever... is a 1966 studio album by Marianne that was only issued in the United States. This RSD pressing marks its first U.K. release and it has not been re-issued on vinyl in the U.S. In 2024 Marianne celebrates her 60th anniversary in music, and for fans of her Decca catalogue Faithfull Forever... is a must. The album is a defining moment of the baroque pop sound and features some of Marianne's best '60s performances with interpretations of songs by writers particularly suited to her interpretive gifts. Standout compositions include 'With You In Mind' by Jackie De Shannon who had previously written 'Come And Stay With Me' for her, Donovan contributes 'In The Night Time' a.k.a 'Hampstead Incident' which was released 6 months in advance of his own recording, Bob Lind's 'Counting' arranged by Jack Nitzsche, and 'Tomorrow's Calling' written for her by Eric Woolfson, later of The Alan Parsons Project. The album features some unexpected song choices from Marianne including a pop arrangement of Ewan MacColl's 'The First Time Ever I Saw Your Face' originally recorded for her second folk LP 'North Country Maid', her reading of the love theme from The Umbrellas of Cherbourg soundtrack performed in the original French, and a foray into jazz on the Herzog Jr. / Kitchins classic 'Some Other Spring' which will be a revelation to those who only know Marianne as a singer of folk-pop. This track along with 'Lucky Girl' by Les Reed and Barry Mason and Norma Tanega's 'I'm The Sky' have never been released in the U.K., and are still unavailable elsewhere. 7 of the album's 12 tracks are also appearing on vinyl for the first time since the original release. All tracks have been remastered from the original tapes by Andrew Batt, and this special RSD release comes with detailed sleeve notes featuring exclusive commentary by Marianne herself and new artwork based on the original sleeve shot by the master French photographer Jean-Marie Perier.

Siouxsie and the Banshees, Nocturne (2-LP, Limited to 4,500 copies)
November 2023 saw Nocturne turn 40 years old. To celebrate this unique live album, Siouxsie Sioux and Steven Severin have overseen a new direction of the already iconic artwork and selected 16 tracks taken from those two nights on September 30th and October 1st, 1983. This 2-LP set is mastered at half-speed on standard vinyl in a new gatefold sleeve with printed sleeves and a few extra surprises to discover. The Royal Albert Hall performances would see Sioux on vocals, Severin on bass guitar, Budgie on drums, and Robert Smith (of the Cure) on guitar. Over the two nights, the Banshees would play different setlists. The songs making up Nocturne were hand-picked by the band as their ideal setlist from the two gigs. With songs taken from Juju, it also features a few B-sides and live performances of Beatles covers "Helter Skelter" and "Dear Prudence." The music heard in the introduction before "Israel" is an excerpt from The Rite of Spring, composed in 1913 by Igor Stravinsky. Nocturne was lauded for its no-nonsense introduction to the band's music for neophytes, while fans of the group will appreciate the tight, gutsy, stripped-down performances. Although forming on a punky whim in 1976, the Banshees remain one of the most influential and enigmatic bands of our time, worlds apart from their contemporaries and a cut above the rest. Unapologetically singular, confrontational, ever evolving yet all encompassing.
Soft Cell, Non-Stop Extended Cabaret (2-LP, Limited to 4,000 copies)
One of the elements Soft Cell's of rapturously-received December 2023 deluxe 6 CD boxset of their stone cold 1981 electro pop classic Non-Stop Erotic Cabaret was the inclusion of the entire original album presented as extended 12" versions. Now available on vinyl for Record Store Day, Non-Stop Extended Cabaret features contemporary full-length versions of the tracks, many of which have never been on vinyl before. The debut album from Marc Almond and Dave Ball (aka Soft) is truly an icon of electronic music. Not only did Non-Stop Erotic Cabaret introduce the world to classic singles "Tainted Love" (one of the biggest global hits of all time,) "Bedsitter," and "Say Hello Wave Goodbye," it also shocked and delighted in equal measure with a 10-track song cycle straight out of the seedier, sleazier, darker side of life. "Sex Dwarf," "Frustration," "My Secret Life," and "Seedy Films," still have the power to thrill, shock and swoon four decades on. This release was created by Dave Ball using only the original studio parts - they're not remixes, they're extended versions! Also included are a new reworking of their first single for Phonogram, "A Man Can Get Lost," and the new, previously unreleased remixes of its flipside, "Memorabilia," by The Hacker and Daniel Miller.

Hopefully there will be a CD release of the Caribou 50th Anniversary. I have no interest or use for the vinyl.
