Raymond Scott Big Band
Real Gone turns back the clock to the big band era with a collection of music by Raymond Scott, best known for his contributions to Warner Bros. cartoons and as an electronic music pioneer. But there's another chapter to this story, and this release chronicles the first multiracial radio big band, the Scott-led "CBS Big Band" whose ranks included legends Ben Webster, Cozy Cole, and Charlie Shavers. Now, the group will be celebrated with a 26-track CD set containing primarily unreleased radio shows recorded by Scott and recently restored by Gavin Ross at Steady Studio in Burbank, CA. The package features photos from the Scott family's archives as well as liner notes penned by Scott historian Skip Heller, who co-produced this volume with the bandleader's son, Stan Warnow.
