Nina Simone
Verve reissues Miss Simone's 1985 "comeback" album, recorded after her return from time spent in Barbados and Liberia, on CD, LP, and digital formats. The eclectic album includes Simone's adaptation of the Gershwins' and DuBose Heyward's "Porgy" as well as Bob Gaudio and Jake Holmes' "For a While" (written for Frank Sinatra's Watertown) and two of her own compositions, "I Sing Just to Know That I'm Alive" and "Fodder on Her Wings." New artwork replaces the original cover photograph of, well, Nina's back.
