Queen Announce Second Round of “Deep Cuts”

As is now custom with each batch of new Queen reissues in the U.K., another compilation comes with them highlighting the band’s lesser-known album tracks. Not necessary by any means, but a neat idea for those already familiar with the greatest hits or those anxious to test the quality of the new remasters without splurging on each expanded title.

Today, Queen’s website announced the track list for Deep Cuts 2, set to accompany the next batch of reissues (spanning from News of the World to Hot Space). Again, no singles to be found here, but a nice enough bridge between the band’s various hits compilations and these new remastered and expanded sets (which will hopefully get their own release in America as the first batch of reissues will). It has a street date of June 5 – the same day as that next batch of reissues – and the track list can be viewed after the jump.

  1. I like the track listing for this one! I just got from Amazon.UK today the first Deep Cuts as well as the 2011 Greatest Hits 1 and 2 remasters and they are terrific.

  2. Does anyone know if the next batch of Queen remasters will have a second disc of bonus tracks and what they will be? And will Amazon carry an exclusive U.S box for that set as well?

    1. Hey George,

The next Queen remasters will definitely have the same kind of bonus material as the first batch, but nothing’s confirmed yet. (I imagine/hope we’ll start seeing original 12″ mixes as bonus material…I think early ’80s are when they started commissioning such mixes.)

As for any box on Amazon for the second set, I hope we find out soon. I have a feeling Hollywood in the U.S. might space these reissues out further than Universal is across the pond. But you’ll read about it here when it happens!

      1. Hi Mike!

I hope there are some great bonus cuts mainly some more BBC tracks. I heard on the radio years ago some live cuts from News Of The World like It’s Late and Spread Your Wings which were amazing. I know there are a couple of rare B sides from the Game and Hot Space which would be cool to see. I have my preorder in at Amazon for the first Boxset. I also picked up the Keep Yourself Alive 7″ this weekend at Record Store Day which is great!

  3. i doubt very much there will be another boxset coming out as theres enough space for 10 more cds on this 40th boxset just released on 4th april but i do trully hope that the bonus tracks are decent compared to the last 5 awful bonus tracks what a joke@shambles that was again they take queen fans for a joke@abuse our trust@loyalty to queen, but its great to see island records releasing new or much more material theres alot of hope and trust on fans on island@queen so pull ur acts together@tear it up.

  4. Glad to see Rock It (Prime Jive) included on this. Absolutely love that song. I’ve always thought of it as a cross between Queen and The Cars, two of my favorite bands.

  5. Me too but a song I always thought was more of a cross between The Cars and Queen was Calling All Girls. I know that was a single off of Hot Space so I am suprised it isn’t included on Deep Cuts 2.
