Pete Townshend and Billy Idol join opera and Les Miserables star Alfie Boe in a new symphonic version of The Who's seminal rock opera Quadrophenia, with orchestrations by Townshend's partner Rachel Fuller.  The deluxe CD/DVD edition includes the complete CD and a 44-minute DVD featuring an exclusive on-camera interview with Pete Townshend, a behind-the-scenes look at the making of the album, and the new music video for "Love Reign O'er Me" shot on location at Brighton Beach Pier in England, site of the Mods and Rockers riots of 1964.  Also available in standard CD and limited edition vinyl editions.

Jackie Lomax - Rare Unreleased and Live

The late soul man, best known for his tenure as an Apple Records recording artist, is celebrated on this 2-CD anthology drawing on a period of nearly fifty years.  The set (released last month in the U.K.) includes an entire concert from San Francisco in 1976, live BBC recordings, and previously unissued studio material from the 1970s onward.

Date with Eydie

Sepia brings together two albums by Tennessee Ernie Ford, from 1960 and 1962, on this new public domain-sourced release - both in stereo and complete on one CD.  Come to the Fair, billed as capturing Ford's performance at the Indiana State Fair in 1960, is considered one of the earliest live albums in the country genre!

Valerie Simpson - Exposed Two-Fer

Alex Chilton - Ocean Club

The late Big Star and Box Tops frontman is celebrated on this new live release from 1977 at New York's Ocean Club.  "Taken directly from the master tapes," per the label, this concert includes Chilton's performances of "The Letter," "In the Street," "September Gurls," The Beach Boys' "Wouldn't It Be Nice" and more, for a total of 16 tracks.

Dave Edmunds - On Guitar

Dave Edmunds (Rockpile, "I Hear You Knocking") straps on his Fender Stratocaster for this all-instrumental - save occasional vocal interjections - collection of famous songs by Procol Harum ("A Whiter Shade of Pale"), Elton John ("Your Song"), The Beach Boys ("God Only Knows"), Kate Bush ("Wuthering Heights") and others. Edmunds plays every instrument on these ten songs, recorded at his home studio over a four-month period, and pays tribute to his guitar heroes including Chet Atkins, Merle Travis and others with his reinterpretations.  Think of it as Dave Edmunds Picks on the Classics!

John Lennon's eight solo studio albums, remastered from their original analogue masters, have been newly cut to vinyl from 96k digital files for Lennon, a new 9-LP box set.  Each album has been pressed on heavyweight, 180-gram vinyl with original album art.

JOE MARCHESE (Editor) joined The Second Disc shortly after its launch in early 2010, and has since penned daily news and reviews about classic music of all genres. In 2015, Joe formed the Second Disc Records label. Celebrating the great songwriters, producers and artists who created the sound of American popular song, Second Disc Records, in conjunction with Real Gone Music, has released newly-curated collections produced by Joe from iconic artists such as Johnny Mathis, Bobby Darin, Laura Nyro, Melissa Manchester, Chet Atkins, and many others. He has contributed liner notes to reissues from a diverse array of artists, among them Nat "King" Cole, Paul Williams, Lesley Gore, Dusty Springfield, B.J. Thomas, The 5th Dimension, Burt Bacharach, The Mamas and the Papas, Carpenters, Perry Como, Rod McKuen, Doris Day, Jackie DeShannon, and Andy Williams, and has compiled releases for talents including Robert Goulet and Keith Allison of Paul Revere and the Raiders. Over the past two decades, Joe has also worked in a variety of capacities on and off Broadway as well as at some of the premier theatres in the U.S., including Lincoln Center Theater, George Street Playhouse, Paper Mill Playhouse, Long Wharf Theatre, and the York Theatre Company. He has felt privileged to work on productions alongside artists such as the late Jack Klugman, Eli Wallach, Arthur Laurents, Betty Comden and Adolph Green. In 2009, Joe began contributing theatre and music reviews to the print publication The Sondheim Review, and in 2012, he joined the staff of The Digital Bits as a regular contributor writing about film and television on DVD and Blu-ray. Joe currently resides in the suburbs of New York City.

    Target has a killer deal on the Rolling Stones Sticky Fingers deluxe set. You get the 2-CD set for 17.99 and the vinyl LP free that is sent to your home! The details to get the free vinyl are inside the Target Exclusive set. For 17.99 you can't go wrong.

    Did you actually get this version?? I'm guessing the Vinyl has no extra songs. Already have the original LP so if that's the case, I don't need Target's version and would rather get the 2-CD set only. If it DOES have extras I might be interested.
