Christmas Time Again

Omnivore revisits and revises the classic alt-rock Christmas compilation.  Producer Chris Stamey has added new performances by Yo La Tengo & Jeff Tweedy, Marshall Crenshaw, Robyn Hitchcock, and Big Star's Third (featuring Mike Mills of R.E.M. taking lead vocals on Big Star's "Jesus Christ") to selected tracks from past editions of the album for a total of 22 tracks!

King Crimson - Thrak

1995's Thrak arrives as the tenth release in the King Crimson 40th Anniversary series.  The first full album to feature the 'Double Trio' incarnation of the group, Thrak will feature a new "21st century stereo reimagining" of the album by Jakko Jakszyk and Robert Fripp, while the DVD-Audio disc has high-resolution 5.1 Surround Sound and stereo mixes by Jakszyk and Fripp, alongside a high-resolution presentation of the original album stereo mix.   Like all release in this series, the CD and DVD are housed in a slipcased digipak also containing a booklet with sleeve notes, rare photos and archive material.

At Long Last Love

At long last - the soundtrack to Peter Bogdanovich's cult classic At Long Last Love comes to CD!  Cybill Shepherd, Burt Reynolds, Madeline Kahn and Eileen Brennan are among those singing such Cole Porter standards as "Just One of Those Things," "I Get a Kick Out of You" and "You're the Top" on this homage to 1930s musical comedy films!  Watch this space on Monday for details as to how YOU CAN WIN one!

Glen Campbell - Goodtime Hour Christmas

Ray Parker Jr. and Raydio's 1978 self-titled album with the hit "Jack and Jill" is remastered and expanded with two bonus tracks including the 1982 remake of "Jack and Jill."  1979's Rock On, featuring "You Can't Change That," gets the same treatment with two bonuses.

JOE MARCHESE (Editor) joined The Second Disc shortly after its launch in early 2010, and has since penned daily news and reviews about classic music of all genres. In 2015, Joe formed the Second Disc Records label. Celebrating the great songwriters, producers and artists who created the sound of American popular song, Second Disc Records, in conjunction with Real Gone Music, has released newly-curated collections produced by Joe from iconic artists such as Johnny Mathis, Bobby Darin, Laura Nyro, Melissa Manchester, Chet Atkins, and many others. He has contributed liner notes to reissues from a diverse array of artists, among them Nat "King" Cole, Paul Williams, Lesley Gore, Dusty Springfield, B.J. Thomas, The 5th Dimension, Burt Bacharach, The Mamas and the Papas, Carpenters, Perry Como, Rod McKuen, Doris Day, Jackie DeShannon, and Andy Williams, and has compiled releases for talents including Robert Goulet and Keith Allison of Paul Revere and the Raiders. Over the past two decades, Joe has also worked in a variety of capacities on and off Broadway as well as at some of the premier theatres in the U.S., including Lincoln Center Theater, George Street Playhouse, Paper Mill Playhouse, Long Wharf Theatre, and the York Theatre Company. He has felt privileged to work on productions alongside artists such as the late Jack Klugman, Eli Wallach, Arthur Laurents, Betty Comden and Adolph Green. In 2009, Joe began contributing theatre and music reviews to the print publication The Sondheim Review, and in 2012, he joined the staff of The Digital Bits as a regular contributor writing about film and television on DVD and Blu-ray. Joe currently resides in the suburbs of New York City.

    I see that the Glen Campbell Goodtime Hour Christmas DVD is only 90 minutes. Were there only 2 Christmas Specials during that series run? Figuring the 1 hour show was only about 45 minutes when you factor in the commercial breaks. Regardless, I will be picking up this DVD. Can't wait.
