What About Now: Daughtry Announces Hits Compilation

Daughtry - It's Not OverThe idea of a greatest hits album seems to get smaller and smaller as the music business does, so it’s always noteworthy when a newer artist releases one. Such is the case for Chris Daughtry, the American Idol runner-up who remained a consistent pop-rocker after his time on the show had ended. The forthcoming It’s Not Over…The Hits So Far chronicles that decade in one succinct package.

Daughtry, who finished the singing competition in fourth place behind winner Taylor Hicks and runner-up Katherine McPhee, quickly turned down an offer to front the post-grunge group Fuel, instead signing with Simon Fuller’s 19 Entertainment and forming his own band with guitarists Josh Steely and Jeremy Brady, bassist Josh Paul and drummer Joey Barnes. Daughtry’s self-titled effort recalled the ’90s mainstream rock traditions of Live, 3 Doors Down and Matchbox Twenty, and yielded five Top 40 singles, including Top 10 hits “It’s Not Over” and “Home.”

Both Daughtry and follow-up Leave This Town, propelled by the hit “No Surprise,” topped the Billboard 200. After that, the band endured some lineup changes, swapping Brady for rhythm guitarist Brian Craddock and Barnes for drummer Robin Diaz, plus adding keyboardist Elvio Fernandes in 2011. Both 2011’s Break the Spell and 2013’s Baptized were Top 10 albums, aided by singles like “Crawling Back to You” and “Waiting for Superman.”

It’s Not Over…The Hits So Far features 11 tracks from those four LPs plus the new tracks “Torches” (which will be released to radio January 29) and “Go Down.” A deluxe edition available at Walmart features a bonus disc of live acoustic recordings from the band’s tour in 2015.

The compilation will be available February 12 and can be pre-ordered below!

  1. Thanks for the heads up about the Wal-Mart Deluxe Version – they almost never advertise their Exclusives anymore, so I usually check their site. It’s there now, priced $14.88.
