We know that you all know about this one...it's the ultimate celebration of Bobby Darin's time at Motown Records on 2 CDs, newly remastered from the original analog tapes by Kevin Reeves and featuring my liner notes based on new interviews with Smokey Robinson and Jerry Marcellino! Most of this material is making its debut on CD, and it's Darin as you've never heard him before. Bobby would have turned 80th on May 14, but his rich legacy of music lives on!

The Cars, Moving in Stereo: The Best of The Cars (Elektra/Rhino)
CD: Amazon U.S. / Amazon U.K. / Amazon Canada
2LP: Amazon U.S. / Amazon U.K. / Amazon Canada
Moving in Stereo: The Best of The Cars, a new single-disc compilation, rounds up the best of the band's output from their entire career, including their incredible run on Elektra Records and even the band's 2011 effort Move Like This. (That last record was, of course, only a partial reunion, after the passing of vocalist/bassist Benjamin Orr in 2000.) The collection includes 18 tracks, including the rare single mix of "I'm Not the One" included on the band's original Greatest Hits album, and two unreleased tracks: a live version of "Everything You Say" from the band's final Elektra albumDoor to Door (1987) and a remix of "Sad Song" from Move Like This. Ted Jensen has remastered under Ric Ocasek's supervision. Available on CD and vinyl. Read more here!
Brian Wilson, Soundstage: Brian Wilson and Friends (Salvo) (Amazon U.S. / Amazon U.K. / Amazon Canada)
Salvo brings the 2015 Soundstage television program starring Brian Wilson, taped in Las Vegas, to a CD/DVD package. The concert united Wilson with Al Jardine, Blondie Chaplin, Billy Hinsche and various special guests to celebrate his legendary songbook and his new album No Pier Pressure. The CD features 19 tracks, and the DVD has 25 plus two bonus tracks and additional interview footage. Amazon U.S. is currently showing this title as available only via third-party sellers; Amazon U.K. has it directly for a very reasonable price, as well!

Esoteric looks back at the short but electrifying career of Birmingham's The Move with these comprehensive, remastered and expanded reissues! Debut album The Move has been expanded to 3 CDs with 52 (!) bonus tracks, while sophomore LP Shazam! gets the 2-CD treatment with 37 bonus cuts. Both titles have previously unreleased tracks. The supergroup of Stephen Stills, Barry Goldberg and Kenny Wayne Shepherd returns with a new outing, Pierced Arrow, featuring the band's rootsy blues-rock! Also available on vinyl. Note that the U.K. edition above has three additional tracks while Amazon U.S. has an exclusive vinyl edition signed by all three members!
Cyndi Lauper, Detour (Amazon U.S. / Amazon U.K. / Amazon Canada)
The Unusual girl and Tony Award-winning composer-lyricist returns with Detour, a country-flavored offering recorded in Nashville and featuring guests Vince Gill, Emmylou Harris, Alison Krauss, Jewel, and Willie Nelson on classic C&W songs from the 1940s-1960s and more. Also available on vinyl.
Steve Bruun says
I hadn't heard about the Move reissues; I'd figured that the expanded editions on Salvo were more or less definitive. The Esoteric versions will have a ton of BBC recordings and some additional unreleased material, so they look like they'll be the new go-to editions. "Looking On" and "Something Else" are also on the horizon, a few weeks out, meaning they're reissuing the whole Move core catalog (minus "Message from the Country" which was on a different label and therefore has a different structure with rights, etc.)
Galley says
Apparently Real Gone is issuing all of the Sony/BMG titles in the Essential series that were previously only available as digital downloads. That makes five titles so far: Johhny Paycheck, Dan Fogelberg, Air Supply, Edgar Winter and Dave Mason.
Wayne says
Wonder who is mastering the Move releases? The original Salvo's were compressed and loud but had better tape sources.
Joe Marchese says
Remastering on both reissues is credited to Ben Wiseman, from tape transfers by Rob Keyloch. Peter Mew at Abbey Road transferred and restored the three-song 1966 acetate on "Move" at Abbey Road. Hope this helps!
