If you’ve been on a dance floor since the start of the millennium, there’s a good chance you’ve heard the intoxicating dancehall riddims of Sean Paul. A recently released greatest hits compilation from Rhino Records puts those dancefloor classics in full focus.

Born Sean Paul Henriques in Kingston, Jamaica, the singer was discovered in his mid-20s, with a flow compared favorably to dancehall pioneer Super Cat. A cameo in music video director Hype Williams’ big-screen bow, the urban crime drama Belly, led to a slot on the bestselling soundtrack alongside the film’s star, DMX. From there, he signed to reggae label VP Records, and honed his craft until he hit pay dirt with his second album Dutty Rock in 2000. Buoyed by three Top 10 hits including the chart-topping “Get Busy” plus “Gimme the Light” and “Like Glue,” Sean Paul was soon a fixture of ’00s dance music, both as a soloist (“We Be Burnin’,” “Temperature”) and a guest artist, guesting on chart-toppers for Beyoncé (2003’s “Baby Boy“) and Sia (last year’s “Cheap Thrills,” Sean Paul’s first appearance in the Top 10 since 2009). And he’s still going strong: his latest guest appearance, on Clean Bandit’s “Rockabye,” entered Billboard‘s Top 10 and became last year’s Christmas No. 1 single in England.

Dutty Classics Collection includes 16 singles from his six studio albums, plus “Baby Boy,” a remix of “Gimme the Light” featuring Busta Rhymes and “Top Shotter,” the DMX collaboration from Belly that started it all. It’s sure to raise the temperature for your summer mixes, and it’s yours to order now!
