It's no "Video Killed The Radio Star" on MTV, but it's still pretty cool! On January 11, 2010, a very simple WordPress version of The Second Disc opened its digital doors. In the eight years since, a lot of stuff about the business has changed - back then, there were still four major music labels, and streaming music wasn't really a thing in the U.S. - but we think one thing has remained consistent: this has remained a hub for enthusiastic coverage of reissues, compilations, box sets and all sorts of archival music, not to mention a celebration of the people who do good work in that field. (Even in our wildest dreams, Joe and I never imagined we could reasonably claim to be among that group!)

So, to celebrate eight years of The Second Disc, we've got a considerable amount of prizes to give away from one of our favorite labels, Varese Sarabande!

They've given us 15 - count, 'em 15! - bundles featuring their recent CD reissue of Chuck Berry's Rockit (1979) and a 40th anniversary edition of the soundtracks to Smokey and The Bandit and its sequel, available for the first time on CD! We've also got 20 copies of the newly-expanded soundtrack to 1984's Thief of Hearts, featuring original music by Melissa Manchester, Giorgio Moroder and Harold Faltermeyer! That's 35 prizes we're giving away - not divisible by eight, but who cares?!

Then, here's the fun part: on our Varese giveaway post on our FB page, tell us your eight favorite reissues, compilations, box sets or any archival music sets between the start of 2010 and today! Once you like both pages and tell us your favorite reissues since The Second Disc started plugging away, you'll automatically be entered to win! (Of course, If you've entered our previous giveaways or already like both pages, all you have to do is answer the question above, and you'll be entered. Remember, BOTH pages must be "LIKED" and a comment left on our page with your eight favorite reissues since 2010 in order to win!
