Gonna Take a Lot: Toto Take Pre-Orders for Massive Columbia-Era Box

February 22, 2018 By Joe Marchese 6 Comments

BUY NOW FROM TOTOOFFICIAL.COM

Are you ready to go All In with Toto?  The band has just announced a limited edition 17-LP/1-BD box set due on October 12 from Legacy Recordings.  This one-of-a-kind collection, exclusively available through the band's website now through April 10 only (for fall delivery), will offer a complete portrait of the band's Columbia Records years, plus some previously unreleased extras.  All In features the following albums on seventeen LPs:

  1. Toto (1978)
  2. Hydra (1979)
  3. Turn Back (1981)
  4. IV (1982)
  5. Isolation (1984)
  6. Fahrenheit (1986)
  7. The Seventh One (1988)
  8. Kingdom Of Desire (2-LP set) (1993)
  9. Tambu (2-LP set) (1996)
  10. Mindfields (2-LP set) (1999)
  11. Toto XX (2-LP set of outtakes, demos, and live tracks) (1998)
  12. Live In Tokyo EP (previously unreleased recordings from the band's 1980 tour) (2018)
  13. Old Is New (2018)

The previously unreleased Old Is New LP features ten tracks.  Of the ten, seven are never-before-heard, along with "Spanish Sea," "Alone" and "Struck By Lighting" which are all featured on the band's recent greatest hits collection 40 Trips Around The Sun.  All of the music in the box set was remastered by the band along with acclaimed engineer Elliot Scheiner.

The box set also boasts a bonus Blu-ray, with the Live in Paris 1990 concert and a 5.1 surround mix of Toto IV, the band's 1982 breakthrough album including both "Rosanna" and "Africa."  In addition, the box contains an 80-page hardcover book with new essays, previously unseen photographs, and an 8x8" certificate of authenticity hand-signed by the band members.

For those wishing to hear the new remasters on CD rather than vinyl, a slimmed-down CD version of the All In box with just the albums will be made available later this year.  (One hopes that the surround version of Toto IV will likewise be released individually.)

Toto's 40 Trips Around the Sun tour kicks off tonight in Munich, Germany, wrapping up on April 8 in Glasgow, United Kingdom.  U.S. tour dates for the summer are expected to be announced soon.  In the meantime, pre-orders are being accepted through April 10 directly from the band at the link below!  Note that All In will not be available at retail stores.

And then our jaws collectively dropped when we saw the price...sometimes it hurts to be a fan.

Given there have been some complaints about the DR values on the recent “40 Trips” release, who’s willing to risk how the rest of Toto’s remastered catalog will sound?

Definitely expensive. If you figure based on album, it's about $40 bucks per album, but there is also the blu-ray and the book. Either way - very expensive. Toto's my favorite band though, so I bought it. I just hope there will be a download code for the digital versions - I really don't want to pay again for the CDs.

I may be missing something but the product description on the order site says:

"/All In/ features the following TOTO albums on seventeen LP’s and thirteen CD’s"

So this editions seems to feature both the vinyl and the CD media, plus the Blu-Ray. The product photo also seems to confirm that.

Though the CDs weren't referred to in the original press release, we can confirm that they ARE a part of the set. We will be amending shortly! Thank you!
